Leveling

I have a 38' fifth wheel with 3 slides and a 6-point leveling system. My question is, should I put slides out and then level or level first then slides?

You are always best to level as much as you can but putting lifts (boards or lego blocks or anything) under the tires first, then level front to back, and then deploy the slides. This method will never hurt anything.

If you actually lift the trailer with self leveling automatic jacks, then there could be a chance of the frame twisting and then deploying the slides might not be so nice. But, you are still best to check with your dealer or manufacturer for your specific camper.

Level first, set the jacks, then operate slides.

I level my rig. Then extend my slides. Then level again if needed. Mine is auto level so I just hit the button again after the slides are out.

What does the RV MFG recommend?

Consider that extending the slides when not level you will have some frame flexing and will be attempting to move a square box (slide) out of a potentially not square opening (trailer) and can have binding and possibly dislodge slide seals. Personally I would always level first.

My owners manual says to level first then put out the slides. Each mfg differs.
