Light fixture

Sorry if this is a duplicate, but I didn't see my post on the forum. We have a Doubletree Select Suites with 18" fluorescent ceiling lights. Two light bulbs have burnt out, but we are unable to remove the plastic coverings to get to the bulbs. It looks like we could just pinch in the sides and remove the plastic, but that procedure is not working. THought about using a screw driver, but we don't want to mess up the plastic. Any suggestions?

Had a 07 Elite. I suspect you have the same 18" that I had. Yes you are doing the correct thing....they were hard to remove. I used to work on one side only till it was all off. The biggest problem I had was that the fixture itself would die....the tubes were OK. I replaced quite a few fixtures (ordered from DRV) before converting them to LED.

Assuming you are referring to this type of light fixture...

The lens should slide AWAY from the center switch about 3/8" to 1/2" and then drop down and away from the fixture.

I just squeeze in on the lens and slide away from the center of the light fixture and it falls into my hand... There is also a small clip on the top of the lens you may have to push in on at the same time you squeeze the two sides..

You can almost see the four slots the lens uses to hold itself inplace inthe above photo...

Once you do it you will see how easy they comes off...

Pinch and wrestle with it.

Sometimes I win first match.....sometimes it takes a couple of bouts.
