Looking for Tonneau for 8' bed on my Dually

Just purchased a 2016 GMC 3500HD Dually. I have never used a cover and was looking for pro's or con's with the hard panels versus soft roll ups. I find a lot of folks with short beds but am interested if it rules change with a 8' bed. Any advise will be appreciated.

The hard folding models are very good, but you need somewhere to store them when the fifth wheel is hooked up. The plus side is they can easily come off.

I like the Pace Edwards that I had as well. It isn't an advantage for a TC, but I could see it as a great option for a fifth wheel since it only takes up a few inches of the bed. It is a bit harder to put on that a try fold the first time. After than, you never take it off.

I had a BakFlip on two different short bed F-150s and have a one piece hard tonneau that came on my F-250 with 8' bed and I really miss my BakFlip. This one was "free" with a used truck I like the higher clearance but it is hard to access the full bed with a lid that just lifts at an angle. I will eventually replace it.

I have a Fold A Cover on my 2011 3500HD DRW. Works well and does not obscure the view when folded.

I have had a Bak Flip F1 on my dually for almost 3 years now. Put a lot of miles and a lot of use on it and it has held up well. It has 4 sections. When towing I fold back 3 of them and there is a strap on each side that cinches them together to prevent any movement. Plenty of clearance for the hitch and trailer. It makes a nice cover for my Trailer Saver BD3 hitch when not towing and a lockable storage area. It also folds up against the back of the cab if I need to have use of the full bed. I wouldn't be without it.

Wow I have basically the same set up. Bak Flip with BD3 hitch.
Beware with any tonneau the rear of the pinbox may contact the track in a tight or dipping turn!

I have a Pace Edwards Jackrabbit on my 06 Long Bed and love it. The older I was getting, the heavier and more uncomfortable the flip-back (4 section folding) became.

The kids gave me the retractable for my birthday (73rd) two years ago and I should have done it long ago.

Like my Fold A Cover just fine. Used them on two different trucks when towing my fiver. Never had a problem with clearence. Relatively water resistant. Yes, some water gets in,,but not much. Solid aluminum over a foam core and locking including the tail gate with one key. There are other brands that also work well with fifth wheel hitches.
