We need to replace the king mattress in our fifth wheel. I would like a good quality one, but want to stay away from the high end memory foam and select a setting types due to weight. Just a good quality one. We e had the current one 10 years in our Jayco Designer.

Check out the foam factory .com. You can build your own. Free shipping. I got a 9" memory foam, delivered in less than a week.

Be sure to check the actual size. In an RV, don't just assume a queen is a queen.

Early on we replaced the OEM mattress. Just went to a local mattress manufacturer. We went with solid memory foam, and they could cut that to any size we wanted. I think most cities of any decent size have an actual manufacturer of mattresses. It isn't rocket science, and as someone noted, markup is really high on them.

What dutchmansport said. That's what we did when we replaced factory mattress in old coach. When we sold it, we switched mattress's from house w/ RV. New coach came with a very comfy mattress.

Same here, only we didn't wait for a sale. ๐Ÿ™‚

It's only slightly heavier than the crappy mattresses we replaced.

We bought a Glen Rose Queen for $519 on sale for $419 3 years ago at Sams Club. It is springs, Memory gel and plush cool foam on top. I'm 275lbs. so we probably didn't rotate enough and it was starting to sag on my side. Still comfortable but with a 10 year warranty and Sam's great return policy we decided to take it back for a trade. The new one like ours is now called Glen Moor and now called a Hybrid. $499.00. They wouldn't let me pay the difference from the sale price and in fact wanted to refund me from the list price $519-$499. I asked if they would just let me trade across and they agreed to that. With higher spring count (866) it is firmer but with memory gel and cool foam top it is still plush. Very comfortable. We will rotate every 6 months this time! Lists for $1299 on Serta's web site. Very happy with the mattress and the deal from Sam's Club!

I thought this subject had been beat to death. Go to a mattress store, try them all out, and buy the one that is most comfortable to you. Everybody has their preferences, so taking advise from others is like letting some one else pick your wife for you.

We ordered the Signature brand king size mattress from Amazon in the 12" thickness. Have had it about a year and its great so far. Think we paid less than $300.00. Comes rolled up which made it easy to haul it to the bedroom of our 5th wheel.

Mattresses are by in large a racket. Ever wonder why there are so many mattress stores around? Because the markup on them is massive. Get a decent foam one from Costco and Amazon and you'll be way ahead.

I think the one we put in the camper cost around $200 on Amazon and it's great. It is a little heavy which can make the storage access underneath a little annoying but no big deal. I might spend a bit more on one for the house but not more than about twice that. Any more is a waste of money, imo.

Go to any place that sells mattresses and get the one that you feel most comfortable with. Just an FYI... the "average" person spends 1/3rd (yes one-third) of their lives sleeping. Shouldn't that 1/3rd of your life be spent in comfort? Get the best money CAN buy. Your back will appreciate it! (and your neck, and your legs, and your shoulders ....)

When we purchased our current motorhome back in 2007, it came with a Sleep number bed. I was sure I wouldn't like it but surprise, surprise, 11 years later, we are still sleeping on it and wouldn't change it for a regular mattress. Love being able to select our own level for each side of the bed. We have already decided once we have a sticks and bricks bedroom again, it will have a sleep number bed in it. Another plus is it weighs less than a regular mattress would.
