Morryde pin box

Just beginning to research replacing my pin box with a Morryde. Question I have is they tell you to order based on your units gvwr. I'm wondering if I am better off going with the size smaller than what my gvwr says. Loaded I would still be 1500# under using smaller size, so therefore would the correct size would be to stiff?

I had the same question. My trailer weighs 10060 empty and I probably have no more than 1500 lbs loaded. My gvwr is 14,000 pounds. The lighter and heavier pin box splits at 14,000 lbs gvwr. I talked to a Morryde rep and she said if I got the stiffer pin box, I would most likely get some jerking. I went with the lesser rated box.

Exactly, love ours it has made a world of difference. I called and talked to the rep and went with what they recommend.

My GVW on my 5th wheel is 14085 lbs. My MOR/RYDE is 18,000 lbs, no way would I go smaller.

It called safety, believe me you will never regret going with the 18K it will ride just fine ...

Just a thought, but why not consider a pin box with an airbag instead? It is after all more adjustable and it sounds like it's your main concern.

I know the Morryde is a good product and well liked, but it may not be your best option.

fWIW I very much like the Reese Airborne pin box and after a full summer under its belt on many rough roads.

I have an 18K hitch... the fiver it was purchased for was 16k gvw . . . The new trailer has a gvw of 16.5k . . Go bigger, and go off gvw..

The Moryde that came on my 19,000 lb 5ver is rated at 21,000 lbs. Go heavier.

get a great riding hitch in the trailer saver bd3 or ts3 20k# hitch and air the bags up as you like it to ride. Probably the best hitch out there. Pricey but worth every penny..

I ordered mine based on my loaded weight. I have 4315 lbs for CCC. No way do I load that. I only load about 1500 lbs into it. I would call and tell them your loaded weight and get their opinion.

Looks like you did what my thought was. I'll have to see what they say once I get all my numbers and weights together. Any regrets on the smaller size?

Dan

With the MORyde you can see dust marks on it where the bushings rub. I called MR to make sure that what I have was working properly. He asked me to send a pic of the dust marks. After he looked at the pics he said that the travel I was getting was spot on. Very good people to work with. No regrets at all.
