I need help troubleshooting my electrical problem on my fifth wheel, When hooked up to shore power some of my light are having power surges when I turn them on and they get very dim, Then when I turn on more lights they seems to get better. I can hear the fan on the power converter surging as well. When I unplug and use the 12v everything is fine. any ideas? Where do I start?

Yep mine did the same thing in September and 2-weeks later it was smoked.
I replaced the WFCO with the Progressive Dynamics model from Best Converter.

. I guess anything is possible but I wouldn't think it would go bad so soon.
This WFCO has a two year warranty if that helps.

I would replace with something else if spending money.

Replace the converter.

Here's my post on the subject.

If you have the Electrical cord that disconnects from the RV then you need to make sure and turn it to the right when you plug it in to the RV. This was a very expensive lesson for me to learn. All kinds of weird stuff took place.
I've been to all 50 States but my RV hasn't.

This is a very typical symptom of a failing converter. Time for replacement.

I would say that you have loose wiring and likely have a hot spot between the converter to the battery. Check on your converter output terminals to see what it is putting out, then check at the battery on the terminals there. Feel the wires at both places to see if one might be hot and not a good connection.

Check or remove the battery first to isolate the issue.
What converter do you have?
