Just ordered a set of Westlake boots for the 5ver, these things look like semi truck tires, lots of rubber, available in 10 and 12 ply...

Frankly, you should almost never see much tread wear on a RV tire, simply because they're used so relatively little and you end up having to change them due to age before they =do= show wear. If you see wear, it's 99% certain that there's a larger issue, most likely alignment, bent axle or bent hub, that's causing it.

Just finished a trip on West Lakes from Florida to Nevada and then back to Eastern Canada and these tires have shown very little wear especially for travelling on very hot highways. But I think before we depart for the migration south I will invest in a TPMS for peace of mind. Saw a family on I10 in Texas with a brand new Montana that had a blowout and the damage was unreal.

Congrats! It certainly makes long trips less stressful. I had the 2500HD with 6.0 (and engine mods) prior to this, and we towed a 28 foot TT for 3 years. Back and forth from AK through Canada, etc. We got the diesel last year, and it just took the stress out of a day of mountain driving. With the TT @ 10,000 lbs, the diesel rarely came out of OD. The 5th wheel certainly gets it to downshift, but it would definitely have had the 6.0 singing at 5000 rpm most of the day.

Home now, can't believe the difference in towing with the diesel over the 6 liter gmc. The truck hardly ever worked hard on the entire trip. When I went from half ton towing to three quarter ton towing I said I'd never go back now having gone to an hd 1 ton diesel I can't imagine why anyone would tow heavy (greater than 10k pounds) with a gasser. New boots are in good shape too, no funny wear or anything. I was feeling quite a bit of input from the trailer on rough roads so dropped from 80psi to 75psi but this had little effect... I dont feel the twigs on the road but certainly not a soft ride as the older tires.

Seems the new bombs are pretty decent, serious thunder showers for 2 days and no handling issues at all. Reaching near 3k miles.

First 1500 miles and all is well, no abnormalities etc. Much nicer to tow in a cross wind now too.

We love our Sailun's...zero issues after 3 years and we don't sit still.

Why not available in Canada who knows but after doing research what the Sailun's track record is I would have crossed the border to get them.

I don't know the cost, I do several thousand dollars a year with this shop, I may not be charged for personal gear at all. I would say they weigh about 50 pounds. These are E rated 80 psi .

The sidewall states 2 polyester, 1 nylon 2 steel... Tread 2 steel 2 polyester 1 nylon.

I suspect the cost. Is about 160 a tire Canada funds... So what's that? 80 usd? ๐Ÿ˜‰

..........I agree , those are substantial looking tires ! (5) questions , (1)cost of a single tire,not mounted ? , (2)what ply are they and DO they have steel matrix in the sidewall ? , (3)what does a tire weigh unmounted ? , (4)what is the load rating imprinted on the side of the tire ? , (5)what pressure do they require ?
..........Both the Sailuns s637 , and the Michelins weigh ~61 to 62 lbs and have a steel matrix in the sidewall ! A steel reinforced sidewall is what prevents the tire from wallowing side to side when heavily loaded and eventually shedding it's tread and\or a blowout !, thanks , jf

Westlake does now have a LRG all steel ply tire. They are OEM on Cedar Creeks that I looked at, however with no track record, why not Sailuns. The way it works is Tredit and Tireco sell to manufacturers based on what they can get out of china cheap unless the manufacturer request a particular tire. Heartland is putting Sailun S367 on most of their larger units, with an option for GY 614's and 114's is 17.5" rims are used.

Bottom dollar "never heard of 'em" brand Chinese ST tires used as OEM equipment by too many RV manufacturers have earned their sorry "China bomb" reputations. Even Goodyear has fallen prey to competing for this market with their Chinese-made Marathons. The China tire apologists can protest until the cows come home, but the fact remains that replacing these rim protectors that come on many RVs with quality tires (regardless of country of origin) stops the failures.
