The shocks on my Newmar 5er has about 25k miles. Any comments about replacing the shocks. How do we know if they need replaced and if so, which brand have you used? Thanks for the reply.

Replaced mine after an estimated 50K miles. Seemed to be about the right time to do it & they are relatively inexpensive. Upgraded the springs too getting an extra leaf. Builders are notorious for building to minimum spec. Again relatively inexpensive for peace of mind.

New brakes, whole assembly, are on the list for this year along with 2 spare NevRLube bearings ready for an easy change out if needed. Best way not to need something is to have a spare.

Best way to test them is to unbolt one side and compress it by hand. If it flows easily in and does not return out it is shot and needs replacement. If it is bad make sure they are all the same size, should be, pull one off and take it down to napa. They will match it with one and send you home to change them out. I would be surprised if they are bad after 25k.

I would also watch the 5er in tow, when you hit a bridge or overpass transition. Does it bounce excessively??
