Well we bought a new 2016 K-Z Venom 4013TK 43.5 ft. pulled it home with our 2012 Dodge 3500 SRW cummins 6.7,pulled just fine plenty
of power just not heavy enough springs the pickup is only rated at 13500 pds. The Venom is 14500 empty 19000 loaded so we needed a bigger
truck So we got a 2016 Dodge 3500 crew cab dually with a flat bed 6.7
with the aisin trans 410 gears. The point is look at your truck real good be fore you buy big toyhauler.

20.6K for the new ford? That is pretty good. I wonder what the empty ride will be like. If they can tow that much and still retain a smooth empty ride they will have something.

The empty ride is VASTLY improved over the previous generation.

X2..lol! Well 3 main things have to come into play...I did a quick look at what makes the numbers come together. I'm not sold yet but here is what I learned today. The gearing for one, the transmission type and whether it is a 2 wheel or a 4x4. Cab and dual wheels seem to come in a little down the road...but I am wondering about spring packs and brake caliper sizes. Without seeing it I'm still skeptical. When you put together a build sheet and look at what changes when you change those parameters...You can either lose or gain 5000 pounds on average in the rating for the truck. So your telling me if I choose a better gear for mileage and lose in rating, that I am in reality getting the same truck running gear as the truck with a higher rating just with lower gears?? Same frame, same springs, same brakes? OK well transmission. An auto can tow more than a manual now these days? Some one educate us. OK 4x4 is a gray area but I would think a 4x4 suspension would be even tougher than a 2 wheel drive...Now I'm really confused. Sounds a lot like smoke and mirrors. What is the truth?

And yet, my 21k GVWR hauler is under all my ratings but GCWR and will also be under the GCWR of my ordered 2017 F350 SRW. I can't imagine what the weight police will have to get frothy about when they take the time to read the 2017 SRW's ratings. 20,600# 5ver rating. 28,700 GCWR. After all these years of saying that engineers know best and anyone who thinks they know more are doomed to die a fiery death and now the engineers support towing so heavy with a SRW. THE HORROR! What to do... what to do... LMAO. Hide in your basements folks. It's a scary world out there...

You see it more times going down the road than you like. You shouldn't even be allowed to pull an overloaded one off of a dealer lot... but again that's just my opinion.... there are no laws or rules that I know of ...they're allowed to do whatever they want and you as the customer are supposed to know what you're doing but that isn't always the case... that's why I over-dramatized my first reply to bring attention to this. One of these days they're going to start making these large rigs pull into weigh stations then let's see where the discussion goes. That will never happen but these triple axle rigs are not getting any smaller...I looked at the weight stickers of a few and I'm thinking you almost have to have a 550 to pull one. My dually doesn't even come close to the weight numbers..an older 350 dually these days is like an old news story.. outdated, not dead, it's way useable but I don't see the allure of how big they have gotten. I mean I get it, full timers, big family with kids and toys etc. but you also have to have some serious bank to put one of these land yachts together and considering how much your going to use it and better yet, where to store it. Have fun out there happy holidazed.

I applaud for you realizing you didn't have enough truck and you got the right truck for the job. Most say "it has a diesel so I can pull anything".
Wish more would follow the path you did.

I bet the dealer said he would be fine towing with a half ton.. LOL

NO really wasn't questioning your judgment and did not mean to offend you in any way....I have just a tiny sore spot (if you couldn't tell). I like to over blow it up a bit....The truck choice and hitch couldn't be any better...Did you get in on the B&W discussion? Dig around...just be sure you have the latching lever pinned before you pull...you will see what I mean when you find it. I don't want to get off subject. Enjoy your new combo!!

Well I'm glad it worked out ...sorry just throwing out the drama...still should be a meeting in the middle regardless.. the education should always come first.. the truck, then the rig, in my opinion...This just makes for good discussion on what happens in the real world... people are taken advantage of and you can't tell me it does not happen. I'm usually not worried about most out there but don't you see a dangerous combo going down the road once in awhile and wonder WHAT is going on there?? I just took a round trip to AZ and back to OR and could not believe how many I saw that were way overloaded. Anyway sorry for the rant.
Easier to find a truck then a trailer. I think if you are buying them at the same time find the trailer you like and buy the truck to haul it.

Don't throw me under the bus...OK you can, but what The HELL was the dealer thinking? OK, tear me apart but I just don't get it...blink blink...This is trash...again a dealer selling someone a danger combo...I'm sick of this profit for who cares what happens down the road. These dealertards need to be held accountable for overloaded rigs. FINES,PENTATIES,LAWSUITS...they put us all in danger...At least the OP was willing to say this was not right. A single rear (regardless of 3500) wheel with a max trailer load of 19000 is off the charts.. what was the hitch?? A 15000 5th wheel??? It would not surprise me....ok I have to take a shower now.,but really?? Remember the signs at the amusement park that say if your not this tall you can't ride the ride? This is a crime! I am so glad you got the truck for the job...still pinches a nerve for me...they took advantage of you not knowing ... it is reckless and taking advantage of the not knowing. What is your hitch and what is the rating in this new truck??

The dealer shouldn't be held accountable for what YOU the consumer buys. The dealer or salesman did his by meeting the buyers needs and wants. That's YOUR responsibility to be aware of what it is youre buying. You the consumer must have the knowledge and understanding of what your actions and decisions will lead down the road.

I know all about weight and towing was just trying the save money
with old truck but decided for all the money I was going to have to
put in to the 2012 Ram it would be better off buying new truck.
