No Direct TV Receptions

Just got our new Alpine 3600RS. Set up my Direct TV Dish and for some reason, the signal does not enter the rig on either of the two TVs. Is there a switch or connection with the unit that I need to focus on?

Always remember both DIRECTV and Dish require two way communication between the receiver and the LNB on the antenna. Most splitters and amplifiers are one way only and block the return signal. In my rig both the cable and satellite inputs went into the amp from the factory. As soon as I rewired it to bypass the amplifier with the satellite cable it all worked fine.

I have an Open Range, Mesa Ridge 345 and had the same problem.
Even when a new cable was installed I had no luck. Tim at Open Range in Ocala picked up a connection at the back of the rig and installed an input box at that location. Dish reception is great now.
Am pissed with Dish, however. We have a Tailgater + VIP211z receiver and want to use their Hopper recorder. Hopper will not work w the 211z. The Tailgater+VIP211K+Hopper will work together but Dish tells me they will not permit the hopper to be used in an RV.
It's times like theses I wish I was a Lawyer...

gdweb, I have not tried splitting the signal at the connectors. Will try it. Also, the satellite is pushing a picture through, as I have connected both tv’s directly. I will find this if it kills me. Like some of you say, it is probably a very simple matter and I will accidentally find it because i already found a signal to the cargo area. My wife says there is enough room there for me to watch my shows if nothing else works. It is after all, heated.

Checked it all out again. There are two connections at the side of the unit labeled "satellite prepped”. I connect to the one on the left. Those two connections have orange wires going to the interior of the crawl space and the route towards the top. At that point, on black cable wire comes back to the cargo area tv connection. It then splits from there to the cargo area, where I actually get satellite reception. A splitter there splits another black wire back to the top where the input black wire came from. From there, I don’t know where that wire goes. The bedroom satellite connection is grey, not black or orange. Now the living room tv has three connections. One is for the “air” antenna that works. Then it has another panel with two more connections. I assume for cable and satellite. One of the wires behind the panel is orange and the other is grey. Black wire any where. I tried both connections. No luck. But one can be satisfied with watching TV outside at the cargo area. The northwest and its rain is very accommodating for this.

Mine was supposed to be satellite ready as well, but it was no where near wired correctly. I had to fix it.

As mentioned before, the first check is to open a window/door and run coax directly from satellite dish to back of receiver.

One more possibility to look for. I had a similar problem when we first tried to use the Sat Prep cable. When the connector was installed on the end of the cable, one strand of the woven shield was wrapped around the center conductor. Hard to see but easy to fix.

Check your TV. on mine I have to set the TV for Sat. also make sure the switch in the back is on the channel you are on it is either 3 or 4.. I would run the cable straight to the box, just to make sure the signal is coming in and then work from there...

You said Direct TV correct? Have you used your sat.dish and boxes before. Is it HD ? If so are you using a HD dish? If not you might have to change the settings on the receiver. If you could maybe provide alittle more information, I fought with mine for some time before I finally figured it out.

are you running 2 wires from dish to sat plug in? i had to run both wires from dish to each hookup. i could get sound on one tv but no pic on either one when trying to split one wire.

as suggested, run a cable from the dish directly to the receiver. This will bypass all the trailer cabling which you can figure out later. Once you've done that see if you get reception. If not, reset your receiver. We once had an issue where we setup at a camping spot and the signal strengths were great, but could not get channels to come in. Once we reset the receiver all worked good.

When we bought our 2005 Cardinal new in June of 2004 they had a conventional coax splitter in the sat lead coming in the side. And it was hidden behind an access panel that was stapled in place. Those do not work with sat signals. All these years later and they have not gotten any better!

I think the same worker installs the black tank wash vacuum break hidden inside the trailer somewhere. Mine was inside the computer desk wall and leaked the first time I used the wash.

mine had mis wiring AND a end that was not connected at the side of the trailer. Known as Quality Control. Why would they check it. They only hire the best labor, right.
