I know I can get a more realistic answer here then a dealer
We are planning on buying a Grand Design Relection 29RS for full timing

SPECS

L 30'11"
UVW 8615
HW. 1538
GVWR 10,995

Does anyone have an idea if the 350 is better to get then 250
Also is there any package that might be a must for towing
Not sure if we are going new or a couple years old on truck
warranty is important
Thank You

I own the F250 Platinum CC with the 6.2l gas and 6 speed. We pull a 298 Sunnybrook which is a heavy trailer. The truck came with the camper package and that's what you want. The on board brake controller is many times better than the prodigy p3 that I had in my Suburban. It really controls the brakes and has the truck and trailer in sync while braking. As far as pulling a heavier trailer than mine. If money weren't an issue, I would upgrade to the 350 with a diesel. The gasser does fine with the 6 speed in the mountains, but does slow down on some of the bigger hills. As far as weight is concerned the extra spring in the 350 leaves room for gear and stuff.

I think I would go ahead a future proof myself and buy the F350. That is my plan after I get my boys out of school. DW and I will buy a bigger truck to handle a bigger trailer.

We had a 31.5 ft TT without a slide. Thought it was huge when we first bought it. It was very liveable. But there were times when we were standing right under each other. Especially when we were trying to get ready for church and such.

Thanks!

if you're going SRW then absolutely go for the F350 but for full timing why not get the DRW, more capacity and most likely just plain more stable.

I will always own a short bed F 250 since a slider is not required for my fifth wheel and I am never going to get a bigger one. The name of my fifth wheel is The Last Resort.

ok, I like having the extra space in the bed, wood, cooler, etc...yes I realize a lot of the new 5ers don't require a slider anymore with theyre cut outs.

if 50 is old...ok, I guess I am both old and old school...thanks...I think.

You can't go wrong with too much tow vehicle. I always buy the F-350, I'm on my fourth one now having owned an'04, then'08, '11 and now a '16. 2019 can't come soon enough!

I agree with cummins...keep in mind most of us made the move up in sizes.

I had a 250 and wish I had just bought the 350 from the start. Long bed srw, well I will never own a short bed truck, not just for the extra storage but also don't need a slider hitch with a long bed.

Buy the brand you want in a 350/3500 LONG BED SRW because you WILL be buying a bigger, longer and heavier very soon after you start full timing in that tiny RV.

you got "some" good advice.

However why don't you grab one of those F series brochures from the stealer and decide what "you" need?

Is what I did.

Bigger is always better when it comes to towing. Duly's are always more stable than single wheels. And diesel towing is just... Well ... sweet! GO BIG. You will not regret it towing.

So what you are saying is that a 2000 model 3500 drw is more stable than a 2016-17 3500 SRW? HAHAHA!!! You need to get out more often.:S
