Rotate landing gear leg inserts

Im getting ready to put som JT Strongarms on my 5er but on my front landing gear I noticed that the legs seem to be 90 degrees off from what I normally see. In other words, the pull pin to adjust the leg inserts is actually in the rear so looking at the front of the trailer you can see all the adjusting holes on the landing legs.

I need to pull the inserts out and rotate them 90 degrees. The holes and everything else is in place just not sure how to go about getting the thing high enough to drop the legs out if they even will drop out.

Any ideas??

Thanks,

Steve

Interesting. I have factory installed and the holes are in the side. On our last unit, I installed them and the part that attaches to the inner leg, attached to the bottom pin through the pin that attaches the foot to the inner leg.

I'll be danged!!!! I've even watched that video before and didn't notice it. All I have to do is swap my pull pins from the front to the rear.

Thanks!!!!!!! Great find!!!

I'm no expert, but I can't say I've =ever= seen a FW without the pins facing outward.

I've always moved mine to the back, I've found they don't collect nearly as much road grime on the handle.

Our new 5th came with factory installed JT Strongarms. Unless the aftermarket kit is different from the OEM kit I'd say your landing gear legs are correctly oriented for the Strongarms.

The lower arms attach to the back of the legs with the nut on the front of the leg. You'll have to enlarge the lowest hole to 1/2" for the through bolt if it's not that size already.

You may have to move your 5" fence post sewer holder as the arms may hit it when you have the gear retracted. Hard to say from your pictures.

Ours has the Snap-pins facing forward by the way.

It would be easy to swap the snap-pins to the front. That might be my simplest option. I already planned on moving the sewer hose holder back quite a bit.

The question was about installing Strong-Arms. Not whose trailer has what.

I have no answer, but I think I would call customer service and ask them how to install.

The pins on my 5er are front to back but mine pull towards the front to release.

That is a simple quick fix!!!! Four bolts and 5 minutes, when gear is up. Chris

So are the foot pads now mounted so they rock from side to side rather than fore and aft???? Or can they be remount to rock fore and aft after you turn the legs? Chris
