Sailun S637

Went shopping for a set of Sailun S637's for our fifth wheel, It appears that they are difficult to get right now. Two tire dealers told me they are back logged until June.

The main two players in a G rated tire 235/85/16 are the Sailun, and the Goodyear. Does anyone recommend another brand of G rated other then the two mentioned. Goodyear is getting pretty outrageous on their prices compared to Sailun. I may just have to hold out until I can get a set of Sailun.

Sailun S637's are on the way from SimpleTire.Com. They have a date code of 0415 makes them right at three months old.

Nowhere on Sailuns S637 webpages does it say the 235/85R-16 is a ST (special trailer) tire. The S637 tire line is and always has been a regional all position tire.

But what it does says is a quote from their web page;
*** All steel construction specifically designed for Trailer application only. ***
This is not a ST tire.

Americans have a hard time with the overseas way of designating a tire. Over there its called a all position tire nor do they have a ST designation or a LT designation.
.

I noticed that on their web page too. On the tires, however, it is ST235 85R16 and there is wording about it being a trailer tire only. If it wasn't so difficult to post a photo on here I would be happy to do so!

Maybe they wanted to move to the easier certification on ST tires vs LT tires.

All you need to cover is your axle weight rating. If you do get a higher weight range tire, your axle will STILL only be able to handle what it is rated for..Your truck is carrying approx 20% or more of your 5ers loaded weight, ie, pin weight.

Does these Hankook need different rims to hold pressure too?
I need new tires and don't want to buy new rims .

The F rating (3330 lbs) is at 105 psi. Rims and stems will need to be appropriate for the higher psi.

That tire does not cover a 7K axle or one derated to 6750, so why not just put Ribs or R250's on 6K axles and not have inflation or capacity issues with your wheels? Chris

After talking with SimpleTire.Com about Sailun S637, they do have them in stock. You have to place the order on the phone, then you can put it in a request for a date check on the tires, then they get back to you on the age of the tire, and if it is acceptable the order goes thru.

The price seems pretty reasonable for 4 tires shipped to Utah ,the total is 704.44 thats 176.11 per tire plus mounting ,and balancing. they are going to be under 800.00 for the set.
Thats a far cry from a set of Goodyear G614's.

Got mine from Big O tire in Lake Havasu in Jan. They ordered them from their warehouse and had them in the next day. Like others have said {they are a really heavy tire}. I told the guy's that I wanted tires less than 6mo old, they phoned the warehouse and had some guy check on the dates and got me tires of that date range. I had LT tires on the unit but they were right at the limit on weight so I'm glad I got these.

Sailon S637 are excellent tires. I have them on my rig with many miles on them. Heartland put them on my rig when it was new. They went back to ST's and had big problems with heavy rig blowouts. They have now gone back to them in Bighorns-some come with Goodyears. You will be happy with them. Mine were built in 09-we fulltime. Send me a PM if you have any questions.

Strange, I ordered my Sailuns on a Friday and the tire shop had them by Monday. I just had them put on yesterday and they look really good. They are a really heavy well built tire. I would have bought the Goodyears but these Sailuns were half the price and look just as good. Time will I guess!

In Canada ?

Yes, and Kal Tire here said they had lots of them in stock in their warehouse. I am kind of surprised that they are on backorder in the US. It must be because they are really starting to increase in demand.

I cleaned them up today and added dressing to them and they are definitely a heavy duty commercial grade tire. They now are ST's instead of LT's just as someone on here had posted a while ago. They are also labelled "For Trailer Use Only", and have a rating of over 4,000 lbs each.

Had Hankook H rated 17-1/2" tires mounted onto our 5th wheel in January. Nice riding tire. So far so good. Got them based on the reviews I received here on RV.net.
