Satellite Dish

Anyone with DISH satellite service.....we have DISH in our RV. Up until recently no problems. However, now when we set up the dish, we can lock in on satellite 119, but not 110. Our dish is the 500 so should have no problems. Has anyone else had this issue?

I have an automatic Winegard Carryout so only have to look out for obstructions. I use an app called Satellite AR which uses the camera on my phone to show the satellites in relation to trees, buildings etc. Works great.

The app you're looking for is 'Dish for My RV Satellite Finder'. This is for Iphones, although I believe there is one for Android too, but with a different name. Cost is $5.00. Maybe google the developers name to find the Android version.

I've been using it for about 3 months. Works great. It shows both sets of satellites (east and west). It uses the phone's camera and projects 2 sets of 3 red dots when you aim it at the southern sky. A big help if you don't know if your antenna is being blocked by a tree limb. And it's a real hoot to use !

The app seems to get mediocre reviews. All I can say is that it's been well worth the 5 bucks to me. Has not failed me yet.

On edit - I also have one of those golfball satellite receivers if it makes any difference.

I could never get those to work. Went to a Tailgator, and all our problems went away. If it doesn't connect, just get out copass and make sure south to south east is clear, then it will connect.

no 110, 119's, 129"s, aluminum foil, satellite locators... etc.
I thought it was just supposed to be plug and play ???

I do use HDMI cable from Dish box to TV... the picture looks
pretty good.

Maybe I need to make it more complicated ? ๐Ÿ˜„

Ha ha! I can beat that. I just push a button and my Travl'r Dish goes up, locks on, and I'm ready to watch TV.

Recently in RV park the host had an ap on his phone that could locate any sattlite! Technology has left us way behind with our "hand held compass" which works well by the way.

We tried it all. We have no obstructions in the line of sight. The dish itself is an older 500 so it could be anything at this point. We called Dish and now have the $8/month service plan which covers all equipment and no cost service calls. A dish tech will be her this week to check it all out and also get us an upgraded HD dish and the latest receiver. We just upgraded our equipment in our house so now it will all be the latest/greatest. The plan even covers if we are away from home in the RV they will send a local tech to us. If the equipment breaks down it is free replacement and service call. We only have to keep the plan for 6months which means $48 vs $150 or more just for the new dish itself.

I key in on 110. Remove foil from 119 and 119 comes in immediately. I also use a 500 dish. I believe you have an obstruction blocking your dish.Good luck.

On mine.....usually if I hit 119...just a tweak and I get 110. To get 129 you have to adjust the skew. The skew for mine only affects the 129(HD) channels on mine.

Your problem is probably the skew angle is incorrect for your location. You can cover one of the heads with aluminum foil, then get the other pointed at the satellite it is supposed to pick up. Then, without changing anything else, move the foil and try the other head. loosen and rotate the skew until you find the other bird. Of course, check the settings for your location, and make sure your dish is set to those.
