Slide Out Drifts

We have 3 slides and today I noticed that the bedroom slide was out about 3 inches or so. When I hit the switch to bring it in one of the living room slides snugged up then the bedroom slide came in. What would allow the slides to drift. Been parked and plugged in since last trip about 2 weeks ago. Also hydraulic fluid level looked good.

I have a Montana with 4 slideouts and had the same issue and the repair shop had to replace 2 hydraulic rams. They were Lippert rams and the repair shop called Lippert and they gave them instructions on how to diagnose the problem. Lippert also offered to give me the procedure but I told them that the dealer was working on it so they called them. Problem solved.

With hydros, there are only 3 things that can cause a loss of pressure and not spew fluid on the ground. 1) Bad control valve allowing fluid to back-flow; this can be caused by the valve body not sealing or the actuator not functioning properly, causing the valve to stay open. 2) Check valves in the system, usually near the pump, not sealing and allowing back-flow. 3) Internal leakage in the cylinder allowing fluid to flow from one side to the other. This was my experience in 30+ years of farming, anyway.

The kitchen slide on our old fifth wheel would creep out, up to six inches, very annoying, while pulling. My dealer along with FR spent three weeks trying to figure this out and traced it to a bad solenoid in the bedroom slide. Replaced the solenoid and voilร  it work correctly.

Had the same problem with my Elite Suite. Had to wedge 4 X 4 between slide edge and wall to keep slides in when traveling. Not a fun problem. Spent about 4 months and lots of different dealers trying to fix the problem. Replaced a ram and 3-4 solinoids but never fixed the problem. Finally traded the trailer off. I must say that Lippert was very good about suggesting fixes and supplying parts but we never could resolve the issue. Good luck with yours.
