Towing capacity

I have a 1999 Ford F350, dually, 7.3 w/410 rear in (6 speed manual); I am looking at buying a Grand Design/ Reflections, model 303RLS. The GVWR (lbs) is 11,995; UVW (lbs) is 9245; hitch weight is 1687. I have tried to find information on the towing capacity for my truck, but no luck so far. Should I be able to tow this 5th wheel with my current truck? Your thoughts on this are appreciated!

Thanks so much everyone for all of the replies. We are seriously considering getting the Grand Design Reflections, and your opinions have been helpful!

I have a 2000 F350 dually crewcab 4x4 with 4.10 gears and the automatic 4 speed transmission. My truck full of fuel, with the hitch in the bed and me behind the wheel tips the scale at 8185 pounds. The GVWR for the truck is 11,200 pounds, CGVWR is 20,000 pounds.

If your truck is a regular cab or extended cab, the weight of your truck will be a little lower than my truck's weight.

With just me in the truck, I can handle up to 3,015 pounds of pin weight and a max trailer weight of 11,815 before I am at the the specified limits of the truck. I hope this helps.

I would say you are good to go! May be close on the GCVWR, but with the 4.10's should not really be an issue.
My 5er has a GVWR of 12,360# and a dry of 9,820# gross about 11,000#. I am over GVWR on my TV, but well within axle and tire ratings. I have no issues with a GCVW of 19,000#+.

PDF Ford 1999 Tow Guide

Truck probably weights about 8,000# loaded (my 2004 weights 8,200# ready to camp.)
Trailer GVWR 12,000#
Truck GCVWR is 20,000# and you are there.

20% average pin weight of 12,000# trailer is 2,400# pin and you should be able to carry that.

Trucks back then didn't have nearly the capacity of todays trucks so your going to be very close to maxing it out.
It wont be much fun but it will do it.

IMNSHO, you are good to go. Your F350 should be more than capable. Make sure she is well tuned up and that allof the running gear components are in tip top working condition.

Cheers!

have you checked trailer life magazine. go to their web site and locate the tow rating section and see if your truck is listed.

I have no idea what the towing capacity of that truck is. However, my thoughts, I'm quite certain it's capable of towing that trailer.
