First of all I love this hitch! We used to get slammed so hard I thought the rear axle was going to break, lol. The problem is and always has been for five years now it throws grease all over the bottom of the 5er behind the king pin. Probably my fault putting in to much grease. I'm thinking about making a couple of shields out of sheet metal mounted up and down along the inside edge of the hitch to 'catch' the grease when its thrown. What do you guys think? Anybody else have this problem?

Same here as others have stated - no grease thrown out by mine either, it doesnt need much on the pins to lube them up.

We had ours for 5 years before moving to a TS3 and did not have an issue with grease being thrown around. Definitely try a little bit less grease.

You bet ReneeG! I posted this in another forum and was told not to put grease on the hitch king pin plate, use the nylon plate instead! I'm still laughing about that! I told all three of them that I'm not from the stone age, lol

Yes I did, he said there was a few reports of grease flying under the over hang but not many. Suggested I use less grease. Today I put some sheet metal up as a shield to see how it works. Cleaning that grease off is murder on my shoulders so I hope with less grease and the sheet metal it will take care of the problem.

My guess if you were getting slammed so hard you thought the rear axle was going to break, your 5er is just beating the he!! Out of your great mask the issue hitch!
Your 5er has a suppension issue, or weight balance issue I see it is a MS so assume it has shocks, does it tow level? Do you have enough pin weight 20% to 25% on a 5er that heavy.

I had a Travel Supreme for the first couple of years having this hitch. I think your right about issue's with the Travel Supreme. It had shocks, I even put 17.5 wheels on it but still had blow outs. I even went to Mor/ryde and got the IS put on. All this helped but there was still a problem somewhere. My Mobile Suites is really heavy, 25% pin weight. I haven't had very many problems with it. I'm level and the TS was too.

We've had our hitch since 2010 and have not had this problem. DH greases it as recommended.

When I first got the hitch shipped to me I didn't even know about the grease zerts. The pins showed lots of wear and being a great company and still under warranty they sent me new pins. I guess at that point I started over greasing them. PCM1959, what suspension grease do you use? Thanks everybody!

No issues either. I use suspension grease. Maybe what you are using is not heavy enough? Just a thought. Love the hitch, btw. I know its a great cushion to the fiver pin bod area on the harsh roads.

I've had mine for 4 years and never had that problem. Maybe less grease is the answer to the problem. The only place I put grease is on the 2 pins. I usually clean the BD3 before our first trip for the season just smear a little grease on each of the pins. I shoot a little grease in the zerts a few times during the season but never over do it. I use a lube plate so never put any grease in that area. Not sure about a shield but I guess something like that might work.
