travel with dog in trailer?

Anyone travel with your pets in the trailer while underway? (This assumes the trailer temp will be at a comfortable level). I'm thinking I might give it a try.

I see nothing wrong with transporting a dog in the 5th wheel. I would not let the dog roam free inside the 5th wheel, but would place the animal in a crate with proper bedding.
35 miles from Normal, IL. As close to normal as I'll ever be.

Cat sleeps all day in the 5er closet. No problem.

My dog rides in a kennel strapped down in the bed of the truck. Doesn't seem to bother her at all, and if it's cold or wet I've got a kennel cover so she stays warm and dry. I doubt riding in the trailer would bug her except it would be too hot during the summer.

I think a lot depends on the dog too. The little nervous type would probably struggle more than the sturdier breeds I've generally owned.

The dog may decide they really don't like camping.

No way of knowing how a dog is handling that situation unless you have a camera to monitor them. Some might do ok. Others might be terrified and you would never know. I would not even consider it.

Well, since my wife also drives when we're towing, I'm waiting for the day that she and the animals ride in the truck and they relegate me to the 5th wheel.

Just depends on the pet. You'd need to ride back there with them a couple of times just to make sure the ride doesn't bother them. Also if they have problems en route you have no way of knowing about it. My wife has ridden in our fifth wheel and says it isn't bad. But she also had a way of communicating with me. Your pet may not be so lucky.

Rusty, I have riden in my mobile suites with center point and trail air. Not bad at all.

Well, our Mobile Suites has the MorRyde independent suspension, but I still wouldn't put our Shelties back there. The back seat in our truck folds up and a flat load floor folds out that extends to the back of the front seats. We fold a comforter up covering the load floor, and our 2 Shelties plus our campground cat (in his carrier) sleep back there with their own A/C outlets and fan. They would freak out in a strange situation such as being in the 5th wheel with it in motion while separated from us.

Your choice, but I wouldn't even consider it.

No way. Would you let a person ride back there? Too stressful for the dogs. One of our dogs gets stressed riding in the back seat of our truck. ๐Ÿ˜‰
