What does this sticker mean?

I'm looking at buying a gently used Avion Westport 5er. On the back there is a sticker that lists a number and underneath says "Rocky Mountain Unit". I remember seeing something similar on my grandparent's RV, but it had something to do with their Good Sam membership.

Does anyone know what "Rocky Mountain Unit" means? Is this an indication that the 5er is a 4-season unit, or just a membership number?

I think that it's not as much a mystery after all. I did check with a friend that used to pull an Airstream back in the day and was a member of their Wally Byam Caravan Club. He recalled that Avion's club did have a Rocky Mountain unit, as well as an Ohio unit, an Indiana unit, etc. Definitely tilts this towards the likelihood that the sticker you're seeing is related to membership in Avion's Travelcade club. Hope the rig is all that you're wanting it to be. If it's in decent shape, it could be a real find.

^^^^^^When I purchased my first 5er. a Holiday Rambler, upon registering they sent me set of numbered decals to be placed on the front which signified the numerical number it was since manufacturing began. The also registered me into the Holiday Rambler members club.

Officially, and I always speak officially, the "Rocky Mountain Unit" sticker is used on RVs when the company runs out of the "Beachview Special Unit" and "Great Lakes Unit" stickers.

Doing some quick research on the Internet, Rocky Mountain Unit is a way of measuring acreage into "units" or grids, which are then designated for oil rig placements. I'm guessing... so they won't be placed to close to each other?

Maybe the previous owner of the camper worked with this

Maybe the previous owner of the camper worked for the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation, or one of those organizations or companies that regulate oil and gas production. The sticker on the back of the camper is, kind of like, him showing he's a member or an employee. It has nothing to do with the camper.


I'm just guessing, but it's possible it has nothing to do with the camper, and everything to do with the previous owner.

My take is that it means nothing of any substance.
Graphics, interior decor, stuff like that.

We, like MitchF150 had a Fleetwood Prowler, "Northwest Edition," that was no different that any other Fleetwood Prowler except graphics.

I Googled it before posting and it didn't help. Found an owners manual from a 1995 and "Rocky Mountain Unit" wasnt listed for that particular model year. The one I'm looking at is a 1997.

Ha, that's so funny Y-Guy... My trailer says exactly "Northwest Edition" and has the diamond plate up front.. 🙂

Its probably just a marketing sticker, that unit might have a few non-standard options that were bundled for that package. Here in the Pacific NW I see "Northwest Edition" on different units to signify the "might" be better equipped for winter or as is often the case they slap on some diamond plate up front to deal with rocks. With the year you might be able to google for a brochure that has more info.
