Whats Your Real Weights? Truck and Trailer. The Real Deal

I donโ€™t know if itโ€™s been done before or not but I was thinking about keeping a running list of real truck weights by year and type, and trailer weights by brand, size and what the total combined weight is of each guys rig. I was hoping the info would be a help for guys wondering about what the real weights are for a certain type of truck and to keep track of the more popular brand 5th wheel trailers. Another thing that will come out of it will be to see just how many guys really know what they are towing and if they know what their weight capacities are.
Iโ€™m sure it will take some time to compile a list and it will grow as guys add there info but Iโ€™m hoping it will help the newer guys in the long run to be directed back over to this thread in the future.
Iโ€™ll keep the TV lists to mainly the big 3 and from ยพ ton and up and Iโ€™ll try to keep the 5ers in a group by real GVW, length, and then manufacture. Any ideas are welcome as long as it makes things easier. And only real information can be given, so no guessing allowed. Only guys that have scaled there rigs or are totally certain of the weights.
Letโ€™s see if I can keep the format real simple to type down and that will make it simpler for guys to refer back to and to keep track of.
Here we goโ€ฆโ€ฆ

TV - 2006 Dodge Mega Cab 3500 4x4, real scaled weight with full fuel, hitch, DH-DW and misc. gear = 7,500lbs. TV GVWR is 10,200lbs

I see lots of numbers here but very few posts with actual corner loads. Some rigs are reasonably balanced axle to axle and side to side while others are out of balance by 8 - 10% or more.

If you knkow your real corner weights please post the info on this thread

Rear Axel 3300# GVAR 7000# (on door sticker)
Total 8060# GVWR 11,500# (on door sticker)

Add 800# for family and incidentals + 2615 for pin weight on a JAYCO 36 REQS That will give me a grand total of 11,475 # 25# shy of the door sticker. If I have cause for alarm let me know

This is an answer I have to weight of everything.
I have a 2008 Dodge crew 2500 HD, 6 speed with OD auto, factory installed exhaust brake and I added 2 leaf springs to both sides.
My trailer is a 2011 FW Open Range 413RLL, (the 413 is the square feet of living space in the trailer), GVWR 14,165, 39'-9" long with 4 slides, bedroom up front and another one in the back with a couch and loft plus a wet bath. I have a full bath up front with a tub. They kept the weight down by using cables for the slide instead of the steel tubes saving 200 pounds for each slide. This trailer also comes with a 4 season living package, and 2 A/C's one has a heat pump, and 4-20 pound gas bottle's, 2 on each side with slide out trays.
Tow capacity for my truck as stated on the internet is 16,832 pounds.
If I am over weight the 6.7 Cummings hasn't complained and I was out west in Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and Montana.
I just know if I can pull it and stop it then I can't worry too much right now. I don't understand looking at the weight each axle, both truck and trailer, will carry or what I put in the truck, and the pin weight. Sitting on flat ground the truck is level and the trailer is also level, what I would call a balanced package. After 51 years of driving many types of vehicles all over the US plus Alaska, and Hawaii,Germany, Viet Nam, I even toured the eastern US on a motor cycle, been in driving rained, white out blizzards in a convoy from Anchorage to Fairbanks in a Jeep as the driver for the company commander. I said all that because I don't understand all the technical talk, really it is a little confusing to me to try and cut the numbers to an exact figure. I am not arguing with anyone, actually I am rather impressed that so many of you have spent so much time on the subject. I am a little old country boy, really a swamper from Florida, with an A.A., B.A., M.A., and Doctorate, wife said I can take all of that to Starbucks and $6.00 and will be able to get a cup of coffee.

All right I have never got the weights of a trailer before . But I just
bought a 2011 Sierra 356RL Forest River says the dry weight is 11,118
pounds with hitch at 2,154 , & GVWR 14,154 . I can't find the specs for my 2001 F250 V10 with a 15k Reece hitch with max pin weight of 3,000.

So what is the proper method for getting the weights on a CAT Scale ??

You want to weigh the Ford first. Preferably in your travel configuration. Full Fuel, Mama, the dogs etc. Put one axle on each scale platform. When you run up on the scale you will see how to do it. Most scales are 3 separate scales. There is a button to call inside to tell them to weigh you. They will ask for your trailer number - I just tell them "private vehicle"

Then run back across the scale with the trailer attached. Put each of the Fords axles on a separate platform and the trailer axle on the 3rd by itself.

That is the simple way. Some folks might say to do the same thing but only one side of the trailer on the scale at a time so that you can weigh the port and starboard (whoops I mean right and left) sides. Many scales are situated so that this is impossible. If you at least do it the simple way that I suggested you can then figure out your pin or tongue weight, your trucks weight etc. You can also run the trailer axles onto different platforms so as to get the separate axle weights but I also think this is overkill.

Hope this helps

Thank you very much !!!

TV: 2011 Ford F250 4x4 6.7 PSD Loaded Weight (w/o trailer) 8280# GVWR 10,000#
5er: 2011 Keystone Cougar 245RKS Normal Loaded wt 8,500# GVWR 9,855#

Pin Wt: 1,280 (15% of total) So GVW of TV is 9,560# (under GVWR)

Axle Wt of 5er is 7,220# 4 tires Load range D=10160# so I'm at approx 71% of tire rating
(going to switch to load range E anyway for more peace of mind and be at 64% of max)

GCW is 16,780. Well be the GCWR of 23,500#

Truck is registered in NC ("Weighted" Plates) with Gross Wt of 18,000# so I'm safe from that standpoint too.

Plenty of truck for the little trailer. My only area of concern are the China Bombs.

Going to put Maxxis on this spring.
