Wheel able to handle G rated tire

Purchased a new Jayco 5th wheel yesterday. The tires on it are Rainier 235/80/16 load range E. I intend to replace them immediately. I cannot find the maximum tire pressure on the wheel, but I did find a stamp that says 3750. My current 5th wheel has the same size tires, but it is stamped 3250. Does anyone know if the new wheel stamped 3750 will accept the load range G tire and 110psi. Service writer is 99% sure they will, and the local goodyear dealer said it sounds like it would be fine. Thanks

Where do you see those stems are rated for 120 psi? I don't see any rating at all.

If you scroll through the questions and answers, the retailer (Veteran Tire and Rubber) answered the question.

First of all, most any 16" FW tire will be rated for 3200# or higher. The G rated tire will fit the wheel, and you should be able to inflate it to the 110psi as stated on the sidewall of the tire.

There are three key things to consider when looking at the load placed on the rig.
1. GAWR - If you have a 6,000 pound axle, you should not exceed 3,000 pounds at any individual wheel. 3,500 pounds for a 7,000 pound axle etc.
2. Load rating of the wheel.
3. Load rating of the tire.

Your load limit will be the lowest of the three. In my case, I have 6,000 pound axles, 3,200# wheels, and 3,520# tires. The maximum load I can safely tolerate on any wheel position is 3,000# due to the axle limitation.

I can install a Goodyear G614 G rated tire with a max load of 3,750#, but I'm still limited to that 3,000# load due to the axle. I've contacted the manufacturer of my wheel, and they told me in writing that the wheel is rated for 110psi, so it can handle the pressure of a G rated tire also. Of course, I have to use valve stems that are also rated for 110psi (or higher).

My G614s are going on next week, and I purchased the valve stems listed below which are rated to 120psi.

Ideally, when you install your tires, you'll inflate them based on the weight of the load, and not the maximum pressure on the sidewall. Use Goodyear's tire inflation table, and inflate all the tires to the correct pressure for the heaviest wheel. If you still want to inflate the tires to the max pressure, it is safe to do so, but you might get a little rougher ride and unnecessary tire wear.

My rims are stamped 3750lbs/110psi. I just put Goodyear G614's on mine and everything went smooth except the valve stems. We had to do some looking to find the high pressure, metal valve stems that would fit. Both local (so called) rv dealers didn't have them (surprise, surprise!). Had to tap a local tire wholesaler/distributor to find what we needed.

Ken, he says they're stamped for 3750, so they should be adequate.

The wheel should have a weight rating stamped on the back of the mounting flange. You may need to remove the wheel.

The LT235/85R16G Goodyear G614 RST is rated 3750 lbs @ 110 PSIG, so you should be good to go.

Hi, yes I think they will handle the 110 psi G rated tire because mine are and they have the same weight rating. You will likely find that the pressure rating is stamped on the inside of the wheel when the tires are dismounted. I was lucky and mine were on the inside of the wheel so I knew right away.
