Which One? Bighorn 3055RL v.s. Sunnybrook 34RL

Hello all. I need a good nudge.

I've had my fun in my 34ft Class A motorhome...tons of great adventures exploring in that cozy unit! Sometime ago I decided on selling the coach and utilizing my idle Dodge 2500 Cummins by going back to RVing in a Fifth Wheel.

My fiver choices were narrowed down to 32-34ft, 3 or more slides, a sizable desk station, 2006 or newer, and a max price of $24,000 (equals the sale of motorhome)

So far, so good. I've researched extensively for many weeks and think I have narrowed it down to these final contestants for my money.

1. 2006 Heartland Bighorn 3055RL

2. 2009 Sunnybrook Brookside 34RL

Spotless, both are in well-cared-for condition and within less than $900 difference in asking price. Both are towable/brakable with my 3/4 ton pickup.

So now I am at the end of my search. Down to these TWO. I am asking this forum of experienced RVers for their help in making this choice. I'm ready to buy now and head south before the next blizzard hits western South Dakota!!

Note: The only fifth wheel I have owned was a well-optioned 2001 Montana 3280RL ...which served us well for 3 years.

Thanks for your recommendations. Love this forum.

Done Deal. The Bighorn won the contest.

Now...where to go first?

Our 08 SB is the Titan and it's terrific quality/design. I don't know about any of the other models and that's getting close to their bad times. I wouldn't worry if it checks out good. Craig

After having 2 Sunnybrooks a 2005 and a 2006, both of which had major water leaks I WOULD NOT even consider one. I now have a 2013 Big horn and and now I wounder why I ever considered the sunnybrook.

Go on the heartland owners forum and do search about how someone cut down the offending cabinet. Was going to do it to ours but we traded.

Thanks for those knowledgeable replies.

Some things I found after looking again at the two choices:

Sunnybrook...front room furniture fabric has a brighter & cheerier color scheme.
A plus as mentioned is that it's 3 years newer. Per duramaxdelight's comment concerning the low overhead cabs above sink, I'll be pressed into washing dishes from time to time. I'm 6'2" so might bang my head too! Bed mattress will have to be replaced..can feel the coils!

Bighorn...The bedroom wardrobe is nice and HUGE. Better mattress. Larger outside storage. I like the graphics better. But is 3 years older and more money.

They are both good fivers for sure.

So far, I am leaning towards the Bighorn.

And The beat Goes On...

Love our 3055RL and use it full time. We toured factories and the Sunnybrook was one of the final four, but felt the Big Horn was best choice for us. Two years and going strong.

Had an 06 3055 BH. Wish we never would have traded it for our last BH. However prefer our signature trailer over any.

We had BH 3055 also. Same year. It has stood well for the use.

My pet peeve with it was the kitchen sink under cabinets. My head always hit

The cabinet.

I know nothing about sunny brook, but I would really look at both for wear , just

Due to 3 , years difference is a lot.

Good luck and enjoy either one!

I own a Heartland Big Horn 3055RL, I would suggest you go to the Heartland Forum and ask your questions from people who actually own Big Horns. I really like the 3055 and it has served us well. I am on the road about 6 months a year. The Heartland warranty and customer service has been outstanding.

We purchased a Sunnybrook fiver some 15 years ago, still on the road today. Really have had no real problems with it, other that it was hit last year by a distracted driver, 2500 dollars damage, repaired. All in all, I think it is a well made unit. They are now owned by Winnebago Industries. Happened about 3 years ago.

We really enjoyed our Big Horn 3055RL and Heartland was nice to deal with. Don't know a thing about the Sunnybrook.
