Just wondering if anybody has one and know what the tongue weight is loaded. Unloaded it is 1157#. So should I buy the 1200# or the next size up 1500# in the Reese Strait line Dual cam?

Still running with factory hitch. Maybe next year. I did notice the trunnion style dial can bars are wearing the socket out on the trunnion part. Seeing this ifi had to, I'd buy the equalizer bars next time. The dual can does not mesh up very sell even after two seasons. Only wearing on one side of the cam.

Receiver will have to wait until next year... If at all. If your receiver is as you say Mrkojoe you should be fine.

Chipster,

I am kind of in the same boat as you are right now. I just got a 2014 Desert Fox 29SB and it's listed dry tongue weight is 1635lbs. My pickup is a 13 Ram 2500 with the 6.7 CTD engine. The factory receiver is a class V but it's rated by Dodge for 1800lb tongue and 18000 GTW. I towed it home with my Reese 1500lb hitch and 1200lb spring bars but I'll be upgrading my hitch in short order and maybe even the factory receiver after I weigh my trailer. Shoot probably need to add airbags to the pickup as well. What is limiting for me though is I don't see a lot of hitches with a rating larger than 1700lbs.

I think if you get the 1500lb set up than you would probably be ok but I'd go for more capacity than required but that's just how I am.

Yep, Class V from Ford is not the same as a class V from Reese or Curt.

Isn't your 1700lbs system a 2.5" drawbar?
When my buddy had one, it was, but that was years ago.

The Curt is a good hitch and rated high enough.

Sorry that you have to spend more money, but you don't want to skimp on a receiver.

Well just went and looked up class V Ford receivers..... That's F!@# up. You would think a class V would be the same rating across the board. Guess I might buying a Curt in the near future. At least I can get one with a 2" receiver.

chipster, did you upgrade your receiver?
The stock F250 receiver for that year truck is not rated high enough to handle 1600lbs of tongue weight.
You have the right WD system, but you need the Reese Tow Beast receiver.
Congrats on the trailer.

Well we finally bought another TH and it turned out to be a 2009 Wolfpack 30WP, fiberglass sides no Gen. Put it on a scale today. Almost fully loaded with water two batteries, full fuel tank, some groceries and tongue weight was 1650#. Put RZR in not much difference 1600#. Might shift some cases of water and pop towards the back instead of up front in the bedroom. But it is what it is. Tows decent so far on 300 mile bring home trip and first short camping trip.
