Z71 Package to tow with

I am on my 3rd 5er and looking at my 4th Truck
always had Silverado 2500HD Diesel and been more than happy.
Looking at a New truck but it has the Z71 package.

Anyone pulling with the Z71 and what does it do to the ride.
Dealer telling me very little difference. Some are saying its much stiffer.

Not a lot of difference but the Chevy website says:
the 4 wheel drive is 279 # heavier
pay load of 4 WD is 279 less
4 WD 5th wheel towing is 300 # less

If it is 4 wheel drive the towing capacity will be reduced.

Our 2015 3500 GMC has the Z71 pkg,Rancho shocks,skid plates,Etc,very nice riding truck.

I have a 2015 Silverado 2500HD with the Z71 package and the ride and towing are fine. It's stiffer than a 1500 of course but it's also my daily driver and I'm happy.

My last truck was a 2009 Chevy 2500 with Z71. I installed Firestone airbags and Bilstien shocks and the ride improved 100%.

It will be slightly stiffer due to the shocks. Standard factory shocks are very soft but also garbage and don't last very long. The Rancho shocks on the Z71 package are not all that great either IMO. On my 2012 I chose to pass on the Z71 package and picked up a set of Bilstein 5100 shocks for less money and have a better ride to show for it.

No problem with the Z-71 ride at all, my truck was ordered without it because I liked the LTZ grill better when I bought it. Now I like the Z-71 grill, go figure. A couple of my good friends have the Z-71 package, it offers more than just the shocks. I have a little buyers remorse not getting the GMC Denali I said I was getting the day before ordering mine. If you can get what you like don't worry about the Z-71 package, ride is the same and you get some extra options with it.

Not a lot of change, skid plates and shocks or just appearance features depending on which package you are getting.
