Are "Settling down" Off the Road Decision.

Started out in 2002 or 2003 on this forum prior to taking off in May 2004 onto the road of Full-Timing ... it has been a great Life!

Majority of our time has been volunteering for various federal/state parks as well as wildlife refuges -- learning a great deal about this great country. And have been able to stay in rv parks while helping family members. But alas time to pull off the road and settle down into an apt.

We will finish up our volunteer assignment in Oregon State Parks with two places will probably come back and visit from time to time .. Fort Yamhill State Heritage Area, Grand Ronde and Luckiamute Landing near Albany.

Decision was made with various issues - combination of health issues plus Old Father Time catching up with us .. we are nudging that 80 yr point of Life. So grateful that since we started out with hopes of being able to do this Lifestyle for 5 years, we are indeed very blessed for all the years, friendships, opportunities to travel, etc. which have come our way in the Journey.

Plans are to return to our home town in June, stay in RV while we wait for an opening in an apartment complex near our daughters and grandchildren (at least the ones in Washington State). Whether we keep our unit or not will be decided later.

Just wanted to stop by and say "THANK YOU ALL" for the helps, encouragement, ideas, and just generally great support. Shalom. Peace.

Bless you both and, yes, you're right, be grateful for the time you were blessed with to enjoy your time RV'ing.

I'm 53, and my youngest will be an adult in 3 years. I've been following this, and other, sites in preparation for plans to hit the road full time......until earlier this year when my elderly (73 yo) mother asked me to move in with her to help her out. It's my mother so it wasn't a difficult decision.

BUT, it does cause me to think at times about "what might have been."

Congratulations on a dream well executed! We are just 2 1/2 yrs into our retirement full-time lifestyle and hope to experience many more years. Following some of the "old timers" here has been an inspiration and given us ideas on how to take full advantage of the opportunities this lifestyle offers. We appreciate all of you who have forged the way for us. Best wishes for the next phase of your journey.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Best of luck to you in your, yet another, new lifestyle!

We have also come off the road after 16 awesome years. We wouldn't have changed it for anything. Now when we see a RV passing by we get travel pains. ๐Ÿ˜ž However, we completed our bucket list.....

Fall of '14 we made the decision to buy a Park Model in Mesa, AZ as our winter base and use the MH to travel for 6 months during the summer. Best of both worlds for us for right now and further down the road we will probably sell the MH and just have the Park Model until assisted living near our daughter becomes the next move for us.

12 yrs is a good run........FTng is a grand way to live

We made it 7 yrs before Life threw a curve ball. We had to catch it and move on.

We still miss the travel/adventure but are thankful that we got to experience it for the time we did.

We bought a small S&B and have GREAT neighbors so life is good.

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 9whatever that new year should bring!)
