Here is a full-timer's 4-part series of solar/lithium installation and in it she mentions the installer.

We also had Marv do our solar. Great guy and great work. He usually spends part of the winter in Casa Grande, AZ.

I can see doing your own solar install, but properly balancing the lithium cells requires special equipment. If you are sinking the money in for a lithium system, my view was that it made sense to pay the marginal amount more to have professional install.

I don t know what you mean by balancing, Ive read a whole lot about lithium systems and this is the first I have heard of balancing. Please explain.

That "special equipment" should be built right into the charging system for the LI bank, no matter who installs the system.

The biggest hurdle for me is low temperature use. 2nd is high initial price.

None, do it yourself. There's tons of info on the www to gude a good and proper install. No personal exeriece but from what I have read installers that do it 100% correct are virtually non-exsistent. I woud recommed reading Jack Mayer and Handy Bob's web sites. They have both installed and lived on solar for years.

Used lew for a lithium install last winter. Not in your neighborhood, but an exceedingly neat and totally trouble free install.

Looks like I may have to wait given schedule conflicts, but I believe it will be worth the wait to get into AM for the install....

When done I think their design will be solid for me

As a aside, I would never use Starlight of Yuma based on my 10 minute conversation with their sales staff

Thanks all
Bill

I'll be at AM Solar after turkey day for an installation. Like you, I was not impressed with Starlight. I went in there with $$ burning a hole in my pocket ready to do an installation and was basically brushed off. I had some questions and it was hard to get answers. The guy was more interested in selling some wire to another customer

I did get AM's answering menu today, so I will continue to try and get in touch with them

If the charging profile is set correctly then connecting a lithium battery should not be a big deal. I assume you would buy a battery with an internal management system for additional protection. If you have a large inverter make sure the battery can supply the amps.

Thanks all,

Well AM never answers the phone; guess ill have to keep trying. Starlight now does everything except install the lithium batteries.... They'll do all the work except that; just hand you the batteries...,
