We found a motor home that we like and like the price of but its 2000 miles away. Its an 09 High End coach and they tell us that the paint has some spots that are "popping" up from the walls. Has anybody seen this? We cant tell anything by the pictures and we wonder If someone has had it on their coach what they did. The sales man says several high end coaches all have this problem this year. Thank you

I am not sure but if the outside of the coach is fiberglass it could be blisters. That happens when the glass does not cure correctly. Only way to fix it is to re-glass. If the outside is metal then just paint. I am not familiar with that coach.

Do a trip to Mexico and get it painted. Several people have done that.

When the price and coach is right the paint shouldn't be a deal breaker, Body shops can fix stuff like that.
No,, it ain't cheap. depending how big the area and type of paint system.
If it just the clear coat, very easy fix.-- sand reshoot and polish.

Most likely, they're talking about paint crazing/checking. It ooks like small cracks in the paint. I'm sure if you ask, they'll tell you it's primarily in the darker colors on the coach, usually on the side that sat in the sun. This is caused by the fiberglass and is prevalent thru many years.

You can either live with it or have it repaired. In the past, the only repair was to replace the fiberglass, that bankrupted a couple of companies. Now, they can sand down to the gelcoat and add an epoxy primer and then repaint. This has been around for a few years, but not long enough to know if it is a permanent fix.

Many of the brands in that era also suffered from clear coat issues, usually along the roof line. It would "burn" or peel off. The only repair is to sand and repaint.

I think your right or their would be more people saying that 09 was a bad year for paint. The pictures they sent don't look like anything but were scared. Thanks donn for your thoughts

Like I said, it could be as simple as poor paint prep. But then again it could be a sign of water damage. Only way to know is to have a compentent body man inspect it. At the very least, poor paint prep could mean $10K for a respray to make it right.

He claims 2009 had a batch of bad paint used on Holiday Ramblers, Country Coach ect. We don't want to drive to see it if it is a big deal.

Paint popping up from the walls? Could be any number of problems. Poor repair job to moisture bubbling the paint. Unless I could positively identify the location and cause there is no way I would touch it. Remember a salesman will tell you anything to make a sale.
