1997 Daymon Daybreak no power need help

Hello All

I am in need of so desperate help. I have a 1997 Daymon daybreak with the Chevy 454 motor. We are having an issue with loss of power . We changed the fuel filter, checked the Airfilter, performed a tune up, checked for vacuum leaks and engine codes with no luck . The unit stumbles and hesitates (worse when it's cold) apon acceleration . It has no power up hills however we can get to 65mph plus on flat ground. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I might try . Thanks for all the help in advance

Well good news new fuel pump is in . Tested at the line and we are at 60psi. Test drove last night and all appears to be good . Good use some injector cleaner but other wise much better . Thanks for all the help .

Ok performed test on rail . It is reading 30psi . When we shut off it did leak down 2psi in about 2 minutes ?
You said in your above post that you had throttle body injection(TBI). Chevy switched to direct fuel injection in 1996. But you could have an older chassis with a TBI which will have lower fuel pressure. If you remove the air cleaner and you see a two fuel jets and see gas squirting out off each jet when you step on the gas you have a TBI. Just something too make sure off before you drop the tank.

The OP got it right. Note he said he performed the test on the "RAIL".

Your right my 1996 does not have the rail.

Thanks for keeping us up to date. It's nice when the Forum memebers try and diagnose an issue and the OP comes back with what worked. It also helps others with a similar coach and issues.

Hello Yes we plan to put a good fuel pump in it . As anyone heard of the fuel pressure regulator as a possible cause too and should I just replace that too or just start with the pump!

Oh yeah plan too put a good one in . Would the regulator possibly cause this too and should I consider replacing both ?

Sounds like you found your problem. I would buy an OEM fuel pump and not look for some aftermarket bargain. You don't want to drop the tank twice.

Thank you Richard do you know what the fuel pressure should be at the rail so we can determine if the fuel pump is indeed the issue . Trying to avoid dropping the tank unless i have too

My information suggests 60 PSI +/- 5PSI.

Also if you drop the tank for fuel pump replacement (we did on our '04 B+) have the tank cleaned. Ours had a "thin sludge or slime" in the bottom of the tank. This was shortly after we bought it 2012 with 8000 miles, without any use for 2-3 years. The only thing the mechanics could could attribute the condition of the fuel pump and in-tank fuel filter was that it might have been sitting for several years with a tank of untreated 10% ethanol fuel. Ours would run until the engine heated up or was under a heavier load.
