2003 F53 runs smoother above 70 MPH

Well I guess I'm going to get blasted on here for this post but here goes anyway: My 2003 F53 smooths out and runs real nice above 70 MPH. At 65 there's some shake. At 78 it rides like a luxury coach. Now I don't run 78 and would like to stay around 65 but 70 keeps me with the traffic. Sounds like a tire balance is needed????

OK, a list of 22.5" with speed rating of 81MPH???

Pickup truck and van tires are UNRELATED to Class A tires (19.5" on some with the majority being 22.5")

No worries I got passed today by another one just like yours. 😄 I saw the V10 badge
Momentarily on the way by. The wheels looked fairly round...

Also some are higher mine are ratter at 90 mph

What make and size?
I am talking 22.5's
Bill

I should have said "leetle truck tires" (16 inch rim) Bill - I think the majority of USA sold 22.5's are rated "75 mph" maybe a handfull "81 mph" and then there is info from the makers that allow higher speeds with certain higher inflation pressures on certain tires etc etc

Finally someone came up with some alternative facts.

I had something similar with my 06. I had a slight vibration at medium speeds. Tried balancing tires. I even had Ford check the drive shaft.
One day I was talking to an " Old Timer " ( like I am ) He says. It sounds like you blew a plug. Then he asked if I can feel it more when on a pull. A slight hill. Yes.
He was right, one of my plugs was bad. Had it replaced, problem solved.

OK, "inquiring minds want to know": What RV tire is rated for 90 MPH???

Bridgestone R250 Q rated 99 mph. They may fly apart if used on a RV because they are truck tires. Worse yet They aren't ST and I use them on a trailer. :E

Could be just about anything. They have a unit that sits on the dash that will narrow down the problem. Not many shops have them though.

The tire balance is the cheap and easy one. I'm guessing the drive shaft(s) may have an issue somewhere because it comes and goes.

Is your vibration felt in the steering wheel or in the seats?

It's the whole RV. The steering wheel never shakes.

Maybe try a set of Centramatic balancers.

Why?
Nothing wrong cruising at 70+ as long as it's not over the legal speed limit and he can maintain control. :R

We had a vibration every now & then and would go away then come back for no apparent reason I replaced the casrrier bearing on driveshaft then found the problem-The bolts on the front of driveshaft were loose could not torque them because of availkable space but I got them tight and added green LOC_TITE-may be worth checking-Rich

tried to find a place that shaves tires, nobody in my area does that anymore. Finally bought new tires and the problem went away. No amount of tire balancing(tried Equal also) will fix an out of round tire.

Shaving the tires is old school but still works good, wish we had someone here in Vegas that could do this, I heard there is someone in Reno still doing it, big truck tires are so hard to balance that shaving them is just the best way for a smooth ride.
