I just purchased my 1st motorhome. It is a 2015 coachman lepracaun 319DS. It has to 24v deep cycle batteries and they keep going dead. Being that my power converter is 12v should I have 12V batteries in there

To the original poster.

If you have two batteries today, you should consider getting two 6 volt batteries and hook them up in series. They will perform much better than two 12 volt batteries hooked up in parallel. Your on-board charger and engine alternator will work well with two 6 volt batteries in series.

I never heard of a 24 volt system in a motor home. You have me wondering if you have two 12 volt batteries hooked up in series creating 24 volts which is a very very....very bad thing.

I would rather have 27 or 29 volt myself. 24 is just too small. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Maybe the new person is thinking didn't respond because many would think he isn't too smart!
That is not the case in my mind!

I am quite sure you do not have 24 volt batteries. Tell us how many batteries you have and how many fill caps are on each battery.

They are most likely Group 24- 12 volt batteries.

Ok, before doing anything I think we need to know why those batteries are in there. The only think I can come up with is that you have a 24v inverter.

And, how did you end up with 24v batteries and no way to charge them?

If it really has 24 volt batteries, they can't be much of anything but dead with a 12 volt converter. You need 12 volt batteries or a pair of 6 volt.
