Ok warm weather is finely here in MI. man what a long winter. So I need to start on my GMC that I bought last Sept in TX and drove here and start my rebuild. Battery is dead and I need to get a good strong replacement. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I need the size for the starter battery. Storage lot was broken into and mine is gone. Makes you lose faith in mankind. Did they have to pick on an Old GMC?
Thanks

I would love to have one on these GMC's from '73-'78 just because of the size and they look that when they were new and you had one, meant you had the class going on. It might take me a couple of years but it would be worth it. Want one that is mechanically sound and only needs cosmetics done. Yes I do dream in color too.

I should also suggest that you need to get on a couple of the GMC forums. While this forum is useful somethings and makes a nice community, you will not survive without being on a GMC specific forum. There are a ton of resources, solutions for obsolete parts. It doesn't make any sense to figure out stuff twice. There are design weaknesses that need to be overcome, things you need to know about before they become a problem. The GMC community is a very tight community with a ton of resources to help.

Maybe someone with a gmc will answer your question. If all else fails, you could measure the space available and then buy the best battery that will fit that space. (I see Dave has already suggested the measure the space method while I was typing)

I did a quick google search but did not find battery specs. I did find a good doc on how the GMC electrical systems work, so I'm including a link here.

Good luck with your project.

Measure the space and just buy the biggest battery that will fit. I would consider an AGM, possibly from NAPA. That is what I put in my bike, and their prices were not too bad. AGM will not tend to discharge on its own, so when the coach sits for extended periods of time, the battery will not be as prone to going dead from sitting.
