Looks like my Winegard sensor is failing. Some of my close local channels are not coming in with the tv showing "No Signal". Tried cleaning the coax connections and trying another input to the switch box but didn't help. I do have 12 volts to the amplifier and most of the higher channels 17 and up come in fine. Any ideas or thoughts on the omni directional units? If I buy a new one is there some thing better than the Winegard? Thanks; Keith

All of the OTA Natl Broadcast signals are now Digital and of course you have to point the BATWING towards the local transmitting station location...

Your BATWING antenna should look like this one for best performance..

If you are using one of these omni round looking antennas your results will not be as good as the Batwing antenna...

I get great local TV performance with my OFF-ROAD setup just about anywhere we go using the BATWING Antenna which has the added dipoles...

I too vote the BATWING antenna about the best you can use...

Saw a popup the other day with a Winegard traveller on the top.

Many knowledgeable antenna folks define omni-directional antennas as "equally bad in all directions". 😉

thanks for the replies guy's. I got the system working by removing the cover from the bat wing, removing the circuit board and cleaning the contacts between the wings and the circuit board.

I just had to replace lots of my antenna system. Coax on three roof deteriorated to point that shielding was pretty much all exposed and after replacing found the amplification was no longer working. Had to replace with an equilivant of the box of many buttons. While I was at it I just went ahead and put in a 40 inch smart TV.

Just on a bet I'd guess you have not cleaned all the coax connectors.

You cleaned the ones at the Atnenna.> At teh switch box/power box (Wall plate or box of many buttons, At the TV, but did you get the one in the roof at the base of the antenna?

kdk, Not to be lazy and sluff you off, but, if you search SCVJeff, or variations like SCV Jeff, you'll find tons of stuff from him. Some(a lot) is really technical but it is good info. He feels that Winegard batwings are great and IIRC he had great things to say about all current versions of the batwing. Search the archives as well as the current posts.

Just a simple test of your antenna booster, take a piece of Coax and jumper around the factory cable. Sometimes there are multiple pieces used to connect from the power supply/splitter to the antenna. It's getting fuzzy now but as I remember my Bounder had three pieces to travel a little over 7 feet.
