I'm interested in hearing from anyone who has used this product to reduce engine noise in a gas motorhome. Good or bad. After 14 years of not being able to listen to the radio (or my wife) due to engine noise I'm willing to try anything!! Well, almost anything. I can't afford to upgrade to a diesel pusher, which I know would be the ultimate solution. I'm sure I'm not the only one out there who has this problem. And yes, I'm also sure that a lot of you guys use this reason to NOT listen to your wives.

Vcomp is meant to be installed on floors, doors and firewalls to reduce road and engine noise. Using a damping material in conjunction with Vcomp will offer the optimum performance.

Don't know what the prior owner used but my coach is maybe slightly louder than my daily driver until I hit about 4500 RPM.

Exactly... B-Quiet Ultimate for example, is rated for underhood use while B-Quiet Extreme is not.

I so appreciate the feedback and comments. For the record, we have a 2002 Bounder 31W on a Ford chassis.
Again, thanks to all who commented with their experiences. Seems like I should do this, now all that's left is to figure out which product to use. Sounds like they both will do the job at a cost that's comparable.

For best results, first use a deadener or a composite and then cover that with an absorber.


I first used http://www.b-quiet.com/products/b-quiet-vcomp before covering it with http://www.b-quiet.com/products/b-quiet-hliner.

The combination made a huge improvement (and I only did the doghouse). No problem conversing with wife. Engine noise only becomes apparent above 4000 rpm. (Who needs a DP for a quiet cab?) ๐Ÿ™‚

I had a Moountain Aire with a Workhorse chassis and we could carry on normal conversation at any speed. It was much quieter than our previous Pace Arrow. I think it makes a difference what motorhome you have.

Whatever insulation product you use, just make sure that it's temperature rating exceeds the temperatures you expect it to encounter in the engine compartment. A fire there is not a good idea.

I lined the doghouse, firewall, and floor under the passenger and driver, on our F53 chassis Landau with B-Quiet Ultimate and was quite impressed with the improvement in the sound level and heat reduction. I removed what was left of the OEM flimsy foam backed foil first, and after a good cleaning, cut and fit the B-Quiet. I split the cost of a 50 sq ft roll with a friend, and 25 sq ft was easily enough for each of us.

I'm guessing you have a class A on a Workhorse chassis. The fans on those are notoriously noisy. Don't know why..the new Winne we just got on a Ford chassis seems to have a very similar fan (huge plastic multi-bladed thing) but it's far quieter. I'd quieted our Fleetwood Flair (on Workhorse w/8.1) considerably by pulling the doghouse and insulating the bottom with Summit Racing's brand of heat/sound deadening mat. Also replaced the doghouse to floor seal with new heavy black sponge rubber from Home Depot. Made a huge difference. Took 2 kits. Clean the underside of the doghouse best you can to help the stuff stick..
