Hi all !

My neighbor installed a Banks intake and exhaust system and claims it improved his gas mileage on a Class A V-10 362 hp.

Has anyone experienced the same results?
Basically, is this worth a look?

Thanks,

Roadrat

I know Banks and others claim more mpgs, but I have never talked to anyone that have actually seen more mpgs. My expierence is better performance, cooler running engine, but the same mpgs. BTW the newer Fords and Chevys don't get the same increase in performance as the older 460s and 454's do. So as others have said I would not buy it for improved mileage nor expect it to pay itself off.

however as first said your system and the OP system are two entirely different systems on entirely different engine systems
And it includes much more than a filter.
Our's includes a bigger turbo, different fuel schedule, different intake system, and exhaust.

For the V-10 I'm not your expert.

like I already said; two different systems on different engine designs
the ISC banks was not a bigger turbo by the way.it was a redesigned turbo body but when the kit is installed it used the same actual turbo guts and also they never made a different intake system.you may have had a different air filter system of some sort?
this system is no longer available

If it does, its minimal. Where it shines is in the hills

When we bought our rig it had the full Banks system, intake, headers SS exhaust and trans module. I don't know if it is any or much difference as far as power, acceleration and mileage. Pulling the Vitara from LA to Vegas to Page to Monument Valley to Blanding UT and then across Capital Reef and Great Basin, Ft Bragg up One to 101 and up to Cape Disappointment and down the Coast on 101 to Ventura and then LA, we averaged 7.8 mpg. I forget the total mileage and gallons purchased but I remember a lot of ups and down from Blanding UT to the CA coast. Several 2000' lows and 4 to 6000' foot highs UT and NV.

Ran well plenty of power but lose power on long climbs, not tremendous torque for towing like we do. Ran quiet and cool. So much more so than the Bounder it replaced.

When I bought my 2005 Coachmen , the previous owner had installed the full banks system. From air ram to headers to full exhaust and tranny shifting module. It definitely increased acceleration and improved the power curve. I'm happy I have it; but could not justify the cost of installing the full system myself. My tranny is a four speed with OD. The newer V10's have a little more horsepower and matched to the newer trannys 5-6 speed with O/D probably match the power and increased fuel mileage I get with the banks system. Realistic mileage is 8-9 mpg downhill with a tail wind and a moderate foot on the gas pedal while towing our Jeep Compass. The banks system does provide better mileage and acceleration on a diesel engine over the V10 gas. Class A mpg is very subjective and has a number of variables effecting it; terrain, GVWR, wind, height, tires, speed, traffic, heavy foot, City/Hwy, generator use, a/c, idling, etc..etc.etc..
Retired and enjoying it!

assume you mean the banks air filter intake system? its a expensive deal to do;; I have read its a power increaser(what its designed to do) but fuel mileage increases are debateable
its a expensive system so doubt its a smart move to install solely based on the premise it will increase fuel mileage

It does on my Cummins.

yes well we are talking about a completely different system than you are;;The only comparison that's in general is the name banks
I had the 8.3 isc system u r talking about and great power improvement but certainly never changed my mileage in the slightest
however as first said your system and the OP system are two entirely different systems on entirely different engine systems
