I used hitch source for everything I needed to set up my toad. Customer service is excellent, shipping prompt, and the prices were competitive.

Personally, I wouldn't be comfortable either buying or selling a used baseplate for safety reasons. Several years ago, my HHR burned up due to a wiring short in the heated seats. BlueOx indicated the heat from the fire may have damaged/warped or otherwise compromised the safety of the baseplate and wouldn't warranty it at all. They also specify that the warranty is voided if the baseplate is welded on the vehicle....just food for thought...YMMV....Dennis

manufactures don't make money selling USED base plates - so its no surprise that they would bad mouth them.

I wouldnt expect a mfg to warranty them either.

I just bought a new baseplate from a RV parts store in Albuquerque for $425.00. $26.00 more than Blue Ox sells it for but I'd have to add in freight so it was pretty much a wash. I tried the Camping World store in Albuq and they wanted $495.00 for the same Blue Ox plus shipping even though they had two in stock. All in all, buy the baseplate anywhere you want except Camping World. BTW: Installation of a base plate sounds like a very complex and difficult task. I've installed four of them now and the last one was the hardest but I'm also a lot older now. Most anyone with access to hand tools can install a baseplate.

I order one on 30 April from etrailer.com. It was $25.00 cheaper than amazon. It only took them till today to get it here.

I purchased the tow bar from amazon on 4 May and received it on the 8th.

Cheaper is not always worth the wait. Now the TOAD will not be ready for Memorial Day weekend outing.

You could have bought the same thing at Amazon for $336.00 and free shipping.

Thanks for letting me know.

You might check on Amazon.com when you go on there web site they also list baseplates sold by other vendors but sold through Amazon. Mine came from a company in Florida so there was no sales tax and if I signed up for the Amazon Visa card they would give me an instant credit of $30.00 Dealer wanted $450, Amazon wanted $369 and the guy in Florida sold me mine for $330 after the credit card discount and free shipping was included. That was three weeks ago, I put it on last week with no problems. Mine is a Blue Ox.

PPL RV in Texas discounts 25-30% and will order what you want.

Demco baseplate are usually less $$ than the others and fit well.

I have used Demco and Ready Brute tow bar with built in braking combination on all my Hondas.

Ready Brute costs about the same as many braking systems so you end up saving $1000 as you get a tow bar and braking system for the price of a tow bar and its a great tow bar.

Baseplate $350
Tow Bar with braking $750
magnetic lights $10
