Our 2003 Dolphin is on a Workhorse W22 with 8.1 Vortec/Allison 1000 five speed transmission. It has 79,000 miles, of which about 25,000 have been towing a 1999 Grand Cherokee. I am hoping for 70,000 more over about 7 years.

No problems so far and all routine service is done on schedule. I have run Transynd in the transmission and full synthetic Quaker State in the engine.

What is your coach, chassis, year, engine/transmission, miles and your expectations for the future?

'84 Tiffin Allegro M-31. Bought from the original owner with a blown engine (Chevy 454) at 79k miles. Piston came apart in the #3 cylinder. Put in a 20k mile 454 (1990 GM Performance engine, truck spec heads and cam, Mark IV block). Hoping for a few more years out of it.

1995 Country Coach Intrigue, Gillig chassis, 8.3L Cummins, ~140,000 miles. Renovated the living area 2 years ago freeing up a lot of space in our slideless MH, with the idea of keeping, instead of replacing it. So far, so good!

1997 Rexhall 3250 with a single slide; Ford F53 chassis, 460 cu in engine. Purchased from the original owner in 2006 with 18,500 miles. Installed complete Banks Power Pack, new brakes and hoses, new redesigned in-tank fuel pump, new tires, and changed all fluids shortly after purchase. Now have 40,000 miles on it, including a trouble free 8200 mile trip to Alaska and back in 2007. Added a larger transmission cooler in 2012 to keep the transmission cooler in mountain driving. Only routine maintenance done each year. Tow a 1999 Toyota RAV4, 4 down, most of the time.

Best regards,

Lowell

Have a 2007 Freightliner chassis which has a 2006 C7 Cat engine. Has been good except for the 6 radiator hose clamps that all failed with 6 months and lost all my coolant 3 times. I suspect some bean counter for Freightliner found a cheap source of radiator clamps which were not stainless steel. I do all of my own service work as we have a large shop with a pit.

We have owned our 2003 Winnebago Adventurer 35U since we bought it new in early 2004. It has a bit over 117,000 miles on it and the GM 8.1 and Allison 1000 have performed well. I figure she has at least another 100,000 miles in her before it will be time to pass her along to a weekend warrior for another 50,000 miles.

20 years old and about 163,000 miles on a Gillig chassis. Could probably go that much more, except we are looking at upgrading about 18 months from now.

2004 Workhorse W22 Purchased new in Feb 2005. We have 62,000 miles on it. Had to replace Allison transmission at 43,000 miles after getting it hot when RV overheated in mountains. I had been putting water in the overflow bottle and not antifreeze while on a long trip. I think this may have caused the overheat. The 8.1 engine runs fine but did foul a plug wire when it over heated and replaced all of them.

We are very pleased with it and have had all the Workhorse recalls performed. We may keep it another 10 years.

1995 Bounder 460 F53. 132,000 miles. Burns a ยฝ quart of oil in 5,000 miles. Original transmission. If time permits, I intend to rebuild the transmission and stroke the engine to 521 cu. in. next year. Why? Because I can.

We only have a little over 150K on our GMC. The 455 engine was removed and reinstalled in the late 90s, but I can't read the old receipt. The 425 transmission has been overhauled. We love it and it is in my barn for some casual winter service that will be no more than the typical maintenance for a vehicle built in 1973.
