Burned Diesel Pusher

I followed a Diesel Pusher on a Flat Bed Trailer on US-60 from Sun City to Phoenix AZ this afternoon. The whole left side and the front were VERY badly burned. It looked as if it might have started in the area of the Refrigerator. It was licensed in one of the SD counties that cater to FT RVers. I certainly hope no one was injured or worse.

It's interesting how some RVers will ignore some one trying to alert them. I once had a pick up truck pulling a TT make a left turn onto the road I was on. During their turn a rear compartment door came open and a bag of groceries fell out. I got along side of them, rolled my window down, honked my horn and pointed to the rear of their trailer. It was a young couple with two kids in the back seat. The woman (mom I assume) was in the front passenger seat and proceeded to flip me off. I tried pointing again to the rear of the trailer while mouthing "DOOR", and this time she flipped me off with both hands.

I was afraid of what she might do next, so I stepped on the gas and got out there. :B

I was behind a Monaco with a stainless steel mud flap that had come loose and talk about huge sparks flying.

Many tried to alert the driver and he just kept on going. I just got the heck out from behind him!

We must be willing to get rid of the life we've planned,
so as to have the life that is waiting for us.

Did anyone see the fire in a DP on the news today. Front Tire burned and destroyed the unit!

Been there too. I suspect from the engine area fires it was the transfer switch in the electrical area. With many long term/full time rvers in Diesels the ratio does not surprise me.


That's would be my gut feeling also, but there was nothing that would confirm it.

I'm also thinking the fridges were what caused the kitchen fires. Long term users would suffer the highest risk of that happening.

What did they have to use those 2x4's for when loading your coach??
To hold the mudflap up while loading?


They were under the rear wheels to keep the tail from hitting the pavement as I steered it on.

Here is just one location that is loaded with crashed, and burned out RV's. Salvage motor homes

Look at the various coaches and you will see that it does not take much for the insurance company to total the entire vehicle and sell it for salvage.

That's because of the DPs value. The gassers burn completely up and are put in the dumpster....:W:W......Dennis


What is really amazing is how cheap DP are put together once you see them in all states of disrepair in the junk yard. Fit an finish might be great to look at when new, but what you don't see seems to be the same for all of them. They all cut corners when they can both on material and labor.

Some of the frame work I saw in the front cap area I just had to shake my head at. Let alone the lack of insulation. Can you imagine the condensation and mold environment that occurs there when the furnace is running and the outside temp is cold.

Best thing a person can do is spend some time in the RV grave yard walking around. After I did that I posted this thread Clicky which ties in with the OP's.

After many hours and years frigging with my NoCold 1200 I'm going the home refer route... much like Dennis I put in a auto fires system and a Amish cooling unit but last week in our snowbird park two more NoCold's caught on fire while on electric. That makes 4 in four years. One burned through the roof and the other was caught in time that it smoked the unit and blistered the jell coat.
This post is my opinion (free advice). It is not intended to influence anyone's judgment nor do I advocate anyone do what I propose.
