Carpeted ceiling

My RV has a carpet like ceiling, developed some seam lines over the years, plus slight grease area near kitchen stove ceiling vent. Anyone have their ceiling steamed cleaned by a carpet cleaning company? If so, any risk of water or steam loosening the ceiling glue? Results. Thanks

Lots of good info on the chemical solution side of things. Here is another perspective from the mechanical side. I have experienced excellent results from scraping/combing our carpeted ceiling with a "fine tooth" 90 degree dog comb.

Our fan/ac deposits a lot of dust and grime on the ceiling and instead of spraying and dabbing, I just scrape it off with the dog comb. Works great and you may get good results, too.

"Valkyriebush".....Make sure you blot when you clean. If you scrub the carpeting or rub too roughly, it will fray and you'll notice it.

This is the EXACT reason we shied/walked away from a few coaches we looked at prior to choosing the one we now have. Both the wife and I pretty much knew a carpeted ceiling would not only accumulate dirt/grease in and or around the kitchen area but, it would be a pain to try and clean. Not that this helps with the OPs issue.

But, I'd maybe try some "Oxyclean" mixed up in a sprayer and then, use a shop vac or, a spot cleaner to suck up any residual. Just a thought.

Hi, Happy New Year :B
These are some things I found at various web sites:

I've only tried the bleach/vinegar and water method so far, I have the carpeted headliner also, it's been working very well on removing water stains.

#1 The people at sky harbor turned me onto a solution that works wonders. I had some roof leaks that left the rust colored stains. I used their solution and it works wonders. the solution is 1/2 bleach, 1/4 white viniger,1/4 water. put in a spray bottle and spry the area and then dab with a white cotton towel. It may take a time or two. Some of mine went away right away, a larger one took two treatments. No staining left what so ever. Just be sure to put a little plastic down over everything else so you do not bleach out what you do not want bleached out. No scrubbing needed just spray and dab.

#2Woolite Oxy Deep Spot & Stain Carpet Cleaner

#3I had water stains on my MH and E-mailed Winnebago on best way to repair it. They called and said that they used " Insta-Gone ". It worked great. Just be careful as it is a bleach and will discolor any fabric it gets on. Just do a search to find it online.

Ours is in bad shape too and we've had no luck with several of the above products. Wonder if anyone has used "fabric paint"? E.g., (example) I had never heard of this stuff until recently.

Had our carpet ceiling cleaned in Mexico a couple of years ago and they used Awsome. We had the same grease area above the stove and all that came out.

You can get Awsome at the Dollar Store for a buck. The swap meets in Yuma have some larger bottles for a couple of bucks

Foam carpet cleaner will also do a good job and will not soak thru and losing the glue, you will need to use some elbow grease to work the foam cleaner into the carpet.

I would not try it,water and steam would not be a good thing to do to the adhesive or the underlying material.
If the ceiling is covered with that kind of carpet type fabric.

I have had great luck with Folex,on my ceilings just spray it on and BLOT don't rub,you will be amazed at how it lifts out the stains.

It may take more than one application but it took out all of my stains.

You can get it at most big box home improvement stores or Amazon check out the reviews and pictures.
