I am seeking some advice on buying a New Coach. I am stepping up to a class A from a truck camper. I tailgate and like to destination camp and see the sites.

I am sold on a Newmar Dutch Star 4369 but also saw American coaches by fleetwood. What is the opinion out there on American? Prices seemed lower, but the pictures of the fit and finish were fantastic and the looked well laid out.

Any advice to anyone who has owned either one or has spent time in them?

The parent company of American Coach, ARG, is in the process of developing regional service centers in the US and Canada as another resource to aid owners with service or warrantee issues. This, along with their push for QC should make the ARG family of coaches very attractive.

I like the way the Newmar is built better. They use a hung wall construction method, American does not. Hung wall cannot delaminate.

And...only Newmar (and Newell) offer Comfort Drive. This one is a game changer and the best kept secret in the RV industry.

We've owned CD since our '08 showed up in Aug of '07. After putting many miles behind the wheel I don't think I'd even consider a MH without it.
There are 24 hours in every day - it all depends on how you choose to use them.

First question is, I see you are located in NJ. Where are you intending to purchase the coach?? NJ or another state??

We are on our third American Coach product, Traditions and now a Revolution LE. The Dutch Star and American Coach are both very, very good products. Friends own a Dutch Star and are very very happy with it.

The biggest concern for us, and we fully know and understand this issue, is where are your purchasing the coach and where do you intend to get it serviced?? We have purchased ours from a dealer in NC, 600 miles away. So, concerning service and warranty work, for us to feel comfortable with the service, we either plan a trip to NC or back to the factory service, also 600 miles away. This is where WE are comfortable with the service being done. Our friends have done similar with the Dutch Star, purchased in FL and they go back to FL for service or we do as much as we can ourselves.

It seems that the dealer network for Newmar and AC has severely contracted the last few years in the northeast, and the ones that are left seem to be able to sell units, but I can't seem to work with their service departments.
