I have a 28' class c gulf stream, only had it 3 months, my wife
and I feel it's a bit confining - we have a chance to buy 2000
31' Fleetwood southwind - its like brand new, 15,000 miles, very
nice shape and the price will be reasonable - its gas powered
any thoughts on the pro's/con of diesel instead of gas ? - this
coach is like brand new ! help, I need advice, drivers/passenger seat
on our class c is tight, hard to get into the back area, doghouse
gets pretty warm on legs, too confining, have I already answered
my own question ? thanks

This is exactly why I say wait. You haven't used it long enough to know these types of differences to judge for yourself what is better for you.

DW and I went from a class C to an A, we like the open floor plan of the A, and I like driving the A better than the C. We have a 2002 32' Itasca Sunrise.

If you think you will miss that shade from the overhead think how great it will be to see the sky, traffic lights that are overhead and weather. I love the open view.

There are trade-offs between both the A and C.

X3 You will miss all the shade provided by the OH bunk, and the easy in and out through the van doors.

Sounds like you're talking yourself out of the Class C. If the finances are right for you, go for it. Your wife will enjoy being able to move around more easily. We've owned both over the years, and the Class A can't be beat. 15,000 miles is just getting broken in.

You can't compare a 31' coach with a diesel. Too many variables. The diesel is a huge step up from there. Drive the Class A and get a feel for it's handling. If everything checks out....sell the C....Dennis

To answer you question about the difference between gasoline/diesel powered coaches.

Let me put it this way. I also made the mistake of buying a brand new 36'gasoline motorhome. Six months later I traded it in for a 38'diesel pusher. It was the best decision I could have made. If you compare them, it is like day and night different. The ride alone on the air ride diesel pusher is so smooth versus the spring gasoline coach. The power, the handling and everything is much better. So like the previous post suggested, think it over before you jump into something else that you might not like.
Test drive many different coaches before you buy.

Hi,

Make sure chassis parts are available. I would aim at something newer. Say about 2010.
