Class C without over cab beds?

As a brand new RV hopeful, I am looking for the right Class C RV but only need sleeping for 4. I prefer the entertainment and storage over the cab, because I do not need an extra bed. The Jayco Melbourne has that floor plan, but are there any others? I THINK I want a 26 to 28 ft model. I prefer used but would consider new. Does anyone know which brands have models loike that and are good Class C's?
Any recommendatons?

You mentioned a lesser overhang which has me wondering if you are thinking about a class B+ like ours seen HERE. Our Phoenix Cruiser is offered in lengths from 21 to 31 feet utilizing the same basic shell design. You might consider reviewing the various floor plans HERE

Most B+s consider two people with a double or a queen bed, or twin beds on the main floor. Accomodating occasional guests like grand children is often handled through a living room slideout which has a couch that converts into a large double or queen bed. In our case, if grand kids some day travel with us, we plan to utilize our dinette conversion bed and have the floor as a back-up if the little ones need more personal sleeping space.

B+ motor homes are more aerodynamic than conventional Cs which helps with fuel economy and improved handling with cross winds. The cap over the van is exclusively seamless which greatly reduces potential of water leaks in what is otherwise considered the most vulnerable area for water damage. If you later consider a C with a huge cab-over area for it's sleeping accomodations, consider one with a seamless bucket design like Born Free and the Winnebago View have.

The Regency GT Triple E puts out a 29' Class C without the overhead bed. I recently purchased their 24.6' model, and I am more than satisfied.

You might also want to take a look at the Coachmen Concord 225LE. It is in the size range you wanted, without the cab over protrusion, is available on either the ford or chevy and has the entertainment center up front with cabinet storage.

That looks nice tenbear. I have a daughter that loves the cabover, so we are keeping it as is. I plan to mount the TV high on the passenger side, so that you can watch from the whole coach or swing it for full viewing from the cabover.

Wish there was an option for twin or queen bunk in overhead.
We'd prefer a twin size bunk and it would bring front curve in alignment with windshield reducing the windage and weight on front axle.

Here is what I did to the cab over area, turned it into a storage area, and mounted the TV on the wall between the cab and the body. The TV is on a swing out arm so it can face where ever you are sitting.

I don't there is a correct 'answer' to the question. I wouldn't do without the overhead bunk. It is bigger than the back bed and easier to get in and out of. Most times my SO sleeps in the bunk and I sleep in the bed with the dogs. Getting in and out of that corner is acrobatic. The dinette conversion to bed is really for kids. Removing the oven and installing the entertainment center (minus TV) there is on my next to do list. I have never used the oven. Ours is a 25 foot. We do not do long term RVing so cooking is not an issue.

This is exactly what is in our 2004 Four Winds. I was used to having the full over the cab bed from my parents Minnie Winnie and was afraid I would really miss the larger bed and storage, but so far the pull out has been great. And this way dh and I both got what we wanted/needed!

They are required under Federal Highway Reg and the need is based on the width of the vehicle and if I remember correctly anything over 80" wide require them.

A lot of the newer class C(We have a 2012 Forest River Sunseeker) have a One-Piece Molded Fiberglass Front End Cap over the cab. Make sure you get one without a window in front and the leaks are not usually a problem. We really like our Forest River and they make a good coach.

We purchased a 2013 Navion iQ 24 G (made by Winnebago) in May and find it suits us extremely well. Even though it's only 24 feet it has a rear slide that slides out about 3 feet to give your a queen bed with room to walk around the bed. It also has a very comfortable double air bed that can be used in conjunction with a side slide. The sofa opens up and the air bed fills automatically to three different firmnesses. It's built on a Mercedes diesel chassis and get decent fuel mpg.

any idea why states feel these are required. don't think my Class A had them. some fellas I have known in the past have paid extra to have them on their pick ups to give it a "real man" appearance which seemed sort of silly to me. what is their value?
