Our 2015 Itasca had a recall with a caulking issue on the roof seam. Took it to the dealer and they slapped on eternabond tape to fix per Winnebago. Just returned from a 1K trip and noticed all external seams are now cracked, fridge vents, cargo bay doors and anything attached that needs caulk to keep out water. It goes in tomorrow for other problems so will ask the dealer. Whish I had my old Fleetwood back.

Probably a real inconvenience but I would take it back to the factory for repairs if that serious. Sounds like BS stuff about bad batch. They probably changed procedures of application or using a cheaper brand that didn't quite work out to save money. Like I mentioned, all manufacturers are building cheaper. I have a friend that recently bought a Winnebago couple of years ago and not a happy camper. I've always bought new but cheap building is getting so bad we have to see an RV on the road a couple of years to see if it holds together before buying.

Frustrating for sure but eternabod tape if applied correctly is really good stuff. It sticks to almost anything. I used about 16' of sticknbond tape and about 6 tubes of self leveling Dicor on my roof already (fiberglass roof) over cracked caulking. Cost was about $150. A bad leak can cost much more than that. I inspect my roof 2 or 3 times a year for any cracks. BTW you need warm weather for application of those products.

The tape was put on where the roof meets the side walls. the whole length on both sides. They claimed a bad batch. Now other seams are cracking

Was eternabond tape used on front and back caps? Seems like that is where the flexing occurs. My 2013 Monaco had several cracks front and rear caps. I used sticknbond tape. Same manufacture. Seems to be holding up. When it comes to roof leaks I prefer to inspect it my self. I use self leveling Dicor. I clean with mineral spirits first. You shouldn't have to scrape anything off at this point unless it is loose. Winnebago is trying to stay competitive and they build cheap like every one else. Surprised that it was a recall unless they have leak problems costing them money on warranty.

you can do it yourself, just understand what product to use. for the roof it is a special 'sealant'

here are some websites: https://www.google.com/search?q=rv+caulking&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

dicor has a good self leveling product

I was shopping for caulk for a non RV project and had to laugh at the labels. 35 year caulk one said. Yeah right. If this is close to truthful why not use it on RV applications?

LOL, Last time on the phone it took 35 minutes to get through and no answer. At least Fleetwood offered a call back. I worked tech support in the aircraft industry and HAD to have an answer in minutes, aircraft that don't fly don't make money. I only jumped on you because of your answer and not knowing all the facts.!!

That was the excuse for the recall, (bad batch) but only for the roof seam. Winnebago customer service is the worst. I asked a question 3 weeks ago with no response. Asked several times since and finally sent one more stating I was getting my answers from RV.Net. They answered in one day.

It sounds like they used the wrong caulk, cheap caulk or got a batch of bad caulk.

I don't know why they (all manufacturers) don't use Eternabond in the factory to eliminate much of the caulking.
