Cruise control will not de-activate when hitting brake pedal

The cruise control on my 2003 Fleetwood DP will not de-activate when I hit the brake pedal. Scared the hell out of me the first time it happened (in a curve). I have lifted the pedal and checked for trash and there was not any. Could it be a fuse issue or is there a switch that may need replacing? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I can't imagine how that could happen. Sounds like a computer problem. I remember years ago I was going down the road with cruise on and the speedometer cable broke which because it thought it was slowing down, it accelerated full tilt until i hit the brake. I would get it to a dealer.

I started with nothing and I still have most of it left

I never fail, I just succeed in finding out what doesn't work

Do your brake lights work? If not, then the problem is probably in the brake light circuit, not the cruise control.
