Cummins compressor

When I start my 8.3 cummins (2002) it seems very slow to build up air pressure unless I bring engine speed up to 1200 RPM. Air pressure holds for hours after it is up to pressure. Am I having compressor problems?

Mine takes awhile at idle but holds air and gets up quick if I push on the throttle. Sounds like you are OK.

My '96 8.3 is slow at idle too. I recently had the air dryer replaced and the shop said everything is good.

No, if it was slow at 1500 rpm I'd say maybe.
