If you ever have an accident without having a auxiliary braking system, the attorney for the injured party will make the accident your fault even if it isn't. The state laws vary widely and the wise thing to do is to just go ahead and get one.

My '03 does not require any fuses to be pulled, in fact after going thru the procedure to shift into neutral, I turn the key to the lock position and remove the key. This does not lock the steering. Has worked for me for many, many miles.

MH has the capacity and MH has brake system and cylinder to install in toad. Just have to get needed parts to install in vehicle. I know a lot of people do not sue but having most of the stuff makes the cost a lot less and worth having.

Thanx for the replies, Envoy weight is about 4400, Pulling with 02 Itasca Suncruiser W22 Allison 5SP. 5000lb tow and 500lb tw. I am trying to figure out why pull the fuse, if key is out and parked or moving there is no need fro any power. I am going the check wiring diagram to see what they are for. Due to the short notice for us the use the envoy and get the mounts for it in time, we are going to tow our 91 Jeep Wrangler as we have before. We are bringing my mother in law with for the first time and were concerned she would not be able to get in and out of Jeep. Trial run with step stool went good. This give me more time to get needed parts with less cost. Lets me sort out what we got with the coach.

We have an 07 Trailblazer(same thing as Envoy) and after the transfer case shifts to neutral it says to shift to drive for a couple seconds and then to reverse and then shut off engine and put into park. On ours you shut the key off and you don't have to pull any fuses. It has no steering wheel lock. I had a shop wire mine with diodes so it uses the lights on the back of the vehicle. We have towed ours for 20,000 miles or so with no problems. Great toad selection. I got a Ready Brake setup for mine and I would not be without it. It is cheap, works great and less things to go wrong.

I tow a 2004 Envoy XUV. If you don't have the manual. (this is in manual)
4 wheel drive. Position vehicle. Put Emergency BRAKE ON 1. Turn ignition key on. 2. put shift selector in neutral. 3. Turn electronic 4wheel drive switch all the way to the right and hold it until you hear the audible "slide" of the trans going into neutral. (about 10 seconds), 4. Put shift selector in Park, ( yeah I know, scared me too, but thats what I been doing for 9 years) 5 Make sure all windows are up and take ignition key out. (don't ask me how I know about the windows)
6. remove fuses #2 and 5 under black square fuse box located under the hood in engine compartment drivers side. 7. release parking brake. ( I use a brake buddy) 8. drive away

Once you move the 4 wheel drive selector and hear it shift, you wanna be careful cause your vehicle will now roll freely with the parking brake off.

Your Owners Manual should be the final word on this. Also Remco Rv towing has a good list and what needs to be dune for towing. As stated check your vehicle weight. Google it.

Does your MH have capacity to tow your car. I think you should also be looking at an auxilary brake.

As long as it is 4wd, the Envoy should be towable 4 wheels down. If it is 2wd, it would nee to be towed on a trailer (not practical due to weight). There should be a note in your owners manual under "recreational towing" or some similar heading.

They don't recommend dolly tow, just flat tow.
