Dirty Roof

The roof on my Motor home is very dirty. I attempted to clean it using my pressure washer with TSP and scrubbing brush but it did not get clean. I am looking for suggestions as to how I might get it clean enough for a reseal. Any advice would be appreciated.

I take it to self spray wash. Then I put another coat
of Bus Kote on. Looks and acts new. Don't worry about
the look of the old. Make it new again!

I use Simple Green on my roof and I mix it 1 to 1 in warm water. I also use a deck brush and a power washer. I don't hit any seals on the roof with the water stream from power washer.

So OP, got a bit off track here. On our previous coach, a '99 Fleetwood Bounder 34V, the rubber roof was well over 10 years old and, the white part had all but, worn off. Needless to say, it was about 75-85% black. Well, we all know what a black roof represents, HEAT!

So, long story short, I scrubbed it with bleach and some good dish soap with a good, stiff brush. That got it fairly clean. I then purchased the Dicor roof treatment from Camping World. It had/has it's own special cleaner/prep in the kit. You put it on with a Hudson Garden sprayer and, let it sit for short, recommended time then, YOU PRESSURE WASH IT OFF, YES I SAID PRESSURE WASH.

Then, two coats of the Dicor treatment and you get this:

Good looking job. As for the teenager I have a nice young man in the neighborhood who really works. !3 years old , shovels snow , mows ,etc, etc. They are not all worthless, just most.

My roof is EPDM rubber and I am trying to get it clean enough to apply "liquid rubber" to reseal the entire roof. Part of the roof is stained but also there is some dirt that appears to need some scrubbing but I am having a difficult time as my knees are bad and I can't get on them to scrub.

Is it a rubber roof? When they get old and the outer layer is wearing off it can look like mildew or soil when its the under layer showing through. I've also wondered how much difference it really makes to get it super clean except looks?

What material? Fiber Glass? Rubber? aluminum?

it does matter, as to what you clean it with.

Yeah, it's going to be a hands and knees job to get it really clean....but like already said, you probably have stains that won't come off. So you can just concentrate on cleaning the seal areas and apply the Dicor instead of trying to de-stain the entire roof. I spent about 5 hours on my roof on my hands and knees with a rag, soap/water, and lots of elbow grease....and still couldn't get the stains off.

Just my $.02 worth......

Dirty or just stained? My MH roof is stained. I would just wash with soap and water, then use mineral spirits in the area that needs repairs. Let the mineral spirits dry and appoy your dicor or sticknbnd tape.

The OP wants the roof clean for a reseal. I don't think it's wise to put a coating over dirt.

Dawn and Mr. Clean Magic Eraser works pretty good...then a coat of Mop and Glow.
