Drumm or Disk brakes? Take a look.

I don't know much about brakes. Can you tell if my rear duallies have disk or drumm brakes.

1996 31'ft Fleetwood Bounder (Chevy P32 chassis)
Class A


This is a picture of the inside of the rear wheel from underneath.

Is there anything easy i can do to determine which without pulling the tires off?

Looks like a caliber on the right, a glimpse of the disc in the center, and a dust shield on the left, I would say Disc.

Looks to me like disc brakes. You see the brake line enter the large metal object which should be what holds the disc pads. Right below that you see a break in the metal shield and you can actually see the dusc itself. We had a '91 Pace Arrow with the P-30 chassis, and it had discs all around. You may want to check them--our right rear disc broke off the shaft after a few years.

I,d bet they are disc brakes. If they are drum there would not be the large round piece where the piston is,and the wouldn,t have a flex line.

It is hard to tell from that angle of the picture. It could be disc but just crawl under to see if you can see a rotor behind that plate that is shown on the picture. If it has a rotor, then you know it has disc brakes.

Also if it has a pan type looking drum, then you know it is drum brakes.

Inside I saw what looks to be a disc but after another look, it could be part of the rim so it's now looking like possibly a drum. That piece in between sure looks like a disc though.
