Does anyone know what the correct fuel pressure should be for a
96 class A efi 8 cyl.engine? I'm only getting 20 lbs max. Looks like I need a new fuel pump.
Thanks

Thanks again for the info. I'm sure this pump is due to be replaced and I will check out the regulator also. I would love to install a booster pump on the frame rail but I don't think It can draw thru the original pump. If anyone has tried this, I would like to know how you made out as it would save a lot of work dropping the tank. just a thought. Thanks again.

Hi,

I was told that the Ford original fuel pump in the 92- 96 years needed to be replaced well before the normal 100,000 miles, like around 40,000 miles. I have a 97 and is still the original pump at about 56,000 miles.

I would recommend changing the pump. Some install a external to the tank pump just because it is so difficult to remove the tank. Yet it can be done at home. It helps to have a floor jack and several motorcycle tie downs that have a ratchet to tighten and hold the tank into place as you bring it up with the floor jack and a 4X4 about 4' long to distribute the weight to the sides of the tank.

I need to change out my tank pump and sending unit, mainly because the sending unit is bad.

Also, a bad regulator could result in low pressure too so don't just replace the pump until you are sure that's the problem. Good luck.
