F53 air filter change frequency

Just changed out the air filter on my F 53 after 25 m miles and found it to be much dirtier than any car I have had with similar mileage.
Apparently the ample space under the front end of this Georgetown class a sweeps up more road grime than the passenger vehicles. Half to go to a 10m mile frequency..

Not an engine problem as crankcase recirculation occurs down stream of filter.

RETIREDCAT: No reason to have water in the air filer. Ford has an updated (new) part that stops that. Maybe someone here can give you the part number.
Have you had any driveability problems in the past? That is what might have caused them

Does anyone know how to change the air intake on a 2000 ford allegro Bay?

I have a CAI on mine that goes right to the front grill. Bugs get in and it clean once a year by tapping the filter to remove the bugs and any road dirt. I chg every 15k miles.

When to change the filter is very subjective. Are you driving it on gravel roads or asphalt? Back in 1989 I was working in eastern Washington and the very fine and highly abrasive Mt. Saint Helens volcanic ash was so bad the farmers put their tractor engine air cleaners on long stacks high off the ground to help keep from sucking ash. We were changing air filters on our equipment every few days and that may not have been often enough.

So much depends on ambient conditions that I don't believe there is a right answer to the question.

Good ideas...Change more frequent means gas and hp improvements also. M does stand for mega 1000000 today and k stands for 1000. The confusion existed between 1960 and 1988 as the trade stds were migrating from english unit to metric.

Why not an Air Filter Monitor? About the same cost as a filter for a F53. Got it on my wish list.

Back to change frequency, I change my air filters each time I change the engine oil, 7500 or 7.5K miles. JM2¢...

Back when I went to engr school before the advent of calculators, we used M to designate thousands. Along the way folks also used K to designate thousands. The change was probably driven by the need to use metric units and M would be confused by meter M, milli meter MM. K did not readily match up with any metric unit of measure so was considered better.

The neat thing about pre calculator math using a slide rule was that you paid a lot of attention to decimal point so your std of wrongness was a factor of ten. Young folks with todays computors can be off by a M or a K without realizing the difference.

Bottom line the air filter on my motor home gets dirtier fast and needs changing more often

If the m stands for Million, I would say it's about time for a new filter 😄

I think he meant to say .025m miles which would be 25,000 miles?

Cost is under $20.00 so it gets changed with the oil every October. We live in an area where we only put on 5000 miles per year on average so once per year works good for the engine maintenence cycle

Once a year. In the spring when I'm doing my spring oil/filer/lube job.
