Fixing water damage on the old Dodge (pics)

I got started on my summer project the last couple days. I found this thing on Craig's list for $100 and drove it home. It's a 78 Dodge Monaco 23' with a 440. Here's what it looked like when I brought it home.

Oh man, I can't believe the huge bag of rusty screws I have already! It's actually not as rotten as I was thinking it was going to be. Just in the corners, where the screws need to be. Still so much to remove....

Hey Malcolm, been reading this over a couple of weeks. Most impressive the work you've done. And very admirable the use of materials at hand.

Keep at it. You're going to have an awesome barn, and I can't wait to see the progress on the camper.

Don't worry Malcolm...you aren't the first one to have things like this happening....it's the rare RV that gets the full make-over....for either lack of time, money, or ambition....right now, you've got two out of three against you...

How has work been going....have you been able to get back on regular?

We'll keep reading this one....to see how things are going....even if it's just the "barn" for awhile....eventually, we know you'll get back to the RV.

I've just got too many irons in the fire to concentrate on it right now. As soon as I can finish my shed I'll be able to back it in and start throwing some walls up.

I think he is going to go ahead with his original idea and make a flat bed out of it. He has obviously lost interest in this project. It became too much. Rather than a repair he made it a tear down. Just got out of hand.

all the events just makes life interesting. but sometimes, i wish life wasn't so interesting.

We had fun, until my boat motor spun a rod bearing halfway up river to our favorite beach. We got towed in a enjoyed the day anyway. I have a spare engine so no big deal, just one more thing to do.... 😞

Thanks guys. We had a fun weekend over at Moses Lake. Rain moved in at home, so it was a letdown coming back over the pass to the west (wet) side of the state. So far it looks like I have at least some work this week. I'm rebuilding a diesel generator out of a late model Prevost bus.

For what it's worth....it's been 1-year and a few days since you started this whole thing.....with those first few pictures of the RV...and then tearing it apart......OVER A YEAR!!!!:S

I'm not pitchin' any stones here ... cause somebody I know quite well did something similar ... well, not near to this extent - just the cabover. Having a fall hunting season deadline is probably the only thing that kept me from straying down that same path. 😉
